- The application to register as a Temporary Professional Quantity Surveyor shall be made to the Quantity Surveyors’ Registration Council (QSRC) office, whose mandate is to ensure the highest standards of Quantity surveying practice in Botswana and protect the welfare and interest of the public in the survey practice, surveying work in Botswana is done for the public good. - Applicants are required to collect the Application form for Temporary-Registration for Quantity Surveyor, obtainable for free at the QSRC receptionist desk, or download it via the QSRC website QSRC Application Forms or directly download it using this link, QSRC Temporary-Registration for Quantity Surveyor
- The completed form, attached to the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page should be submitted to the QSRC office. Any omission of the required documentation and information will render the registration process incomplete.
- The applicant will be required to pay the registration fee (non-refundable) which is payable either by depositing it into the QSRC account. Alternatively, you can pay by cheque written in favour of the Quantity Surveyors’ Registration Council. No cash is handled at the QSRC offices and as such, you should not give anybody any money for them to assist you. (Refer to “Fees” section of this page for the fee schedule and bank details)
- Upon receipt of the application file, the registrar will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for assessment and consideration by the Council which is within six (6) to twelve (12) weeks provided everything is in order.
- Applicants will be issued with a QSRC payment receipt and an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- Upon receipt of the application file, the council shall approve the applicant to be registered as a Temporary Professional Quantity Surveyor where it is satisfied that-
- That the applicant is not ordinarily resident in Botswana;
- That he/she is or intends to be present in Botswana in the capacity of a quantity surveyor for the express purpose of carrying out specific work for which he has been engaged; and
- That he/she is, or immediately before entering Botswana was, in practice as an engineer in such a capacity as to satisfy the council of his fitness to serve the public as a surveyor.
- That he/she is a fit and proper person to be registered as a surveyor.
- Has passed any other examination or interview as the council may determine.
- The council may require an applicant to furnish them with additional information or evidence of eligibility for registration as it may think fit and may summon the applicant, to appear personally before the council or subcommittee for an interview.
- Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the client in writing.
- Where the Council is not satisfied that an applicant meets the registration requirements, it shall reject the application and notify the applicant in writing, stating the reasons for the rejection. You may then be refunded the money you paid except for the non-refundable application fee.
- If approved, the council will direct the registrar to register the applicant as a temporary professional quantity surveyor and draw up the registration certificate, to be issued to the client, upon presenting their identity document, approval letter, and proof of payment of the registration fee to be validated by the registrar's office at the QSRC.

- Applicants can apply to the QSRC website QSRC Online Registration login if you already have an account, if you don’t have an account click on the “Register an Account” option, fill out the registration form then click on the “Register” tab.
- Upon successful registering, a registration confirmation request mail will be sent to the specified registered e-mail address, click on the user verification & activation link, you will be redirected to the login page, enter your user name and password then click on the “Login” tab.
- Under the “Registration” option select “Temporary Quantity Surveyor”, this will navigate you to the Registration Page, fill out all applicable fields, upload the certified true copies of the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Document” section below. Any omission of these documents will render the registration process incomplete. Then click on the “Submit” tab.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet the following criteria,
- A foreigner, that is not ordinarily resident in Botswana.
- a member of an institution of surveyors, the membership of which is recognized by the Board as furnishing a sufficient guarantee of the required academic knowledge of, and practical experience in, surveying, or
- a person who is the holder of a degree, diploma, or license of a university or school of survey which is recognized by the council as furnishing sufficient evidence of adequate academic training in quality surveyor.

The accepted method of payment is direct deposits into the QSRC bank account,
- No cash will be accepted at QSRC Offices. Cheques sent to QSRC by post will also not be accepted. QSRC will take no responsibility for cheques lost in the post or intercepted and fraudulently banked in another party’s bank account.
- When payments are made at the Bank, an applicant must quote their Omang Number (Citizens) or Passport Number (Non-Citizens).

- The valid of the Temporary Registration Certificate for Quantity Surveyor shall be for a period not exceeding one year or for the duration of any specified work and shall be mentioned on the certificate.

STATEMENT ON POST-GRADUATE QUANTITY SURVEYING EXPERIENCE
- The applicant is required to submit short statements of not more than 4,000 words covering each competency as indicated in the Registration Policy, (word count of the report should be indicated). The applicant is required to demonstrate in detail the competencies and his or her involvement in not more than four projects that he or she regards as the highlight of his or her professional experience in Quantity Surveying.
- For each competency, the applicant shall describe his involvement in the management, contractual, financial control and other areas that he or she was involved in. He or she shall describe his or her personal contribution and responsibilities.
- In preparing his or her report, he shall refer to the Checklist for Professional Assessment Competence Element / Performance Indicators and demonstrate how he or she has achieved all of the elements of competence in the Checklist.

- A Temporary Quantity Surveyor Registration Certificate is a document that proves that the holder has been registered and certified by the Quantity Surveyors’ Registration Council (QSRC).
- Registering as a Temporary Quantity Surveyor shows peers, employers, and clients that one has demonstrated a commitment to professional standards and code of professional ethics and to developing and enhancing competence.

- A Temporary Registration Certificate shows that one has met the requirements to join the Quantity Surveyor profession under regulations by QSRC.The Registration Certificate alone does not allow one too lawfully to perform surveying work, you also need a current Practicing certificate.
- The practicing certificate allows a person to lawfully execute the works of a surveyor. The practicing certificate expires annually and is renewable.
