Procedure

Apply In Person

1. An application for a Tourist Vehicle (Class E) Licence shall be made to the nearest Regional Department of Tourism Offices
2. The application shall be made in writing using a prescribed form “Tourism Enterprise Licence Form” obtainable at the Regional Department of Tourism Offices or directly download it using this link Tourism Enterprise Licence Form
3. After collecting/downloading the application form, fill it out accurately attach all the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit them to the nearest Regional Department of Tourism Offices for consideration. (Please submit ten (10) copies of all the requirements)
4. Upon submission, the application is checked for completeness and correctness by the receiving officer, if everything is in order the applicant is issued with an acknowledgment slip that proves submission of the application file and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
5. The Authority may request additional information relevant to the application. In such a case, the information must be submitted within a specific period from the date of notification. Where the applicant fails to submit the required information, the Authority shall reject the application.
6. After a successful documentation evaluation phase, a notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the client in writing or by phone or email within 30 days of receiving the complete application and additional information requested.
7. Where the Authority is not satisfied that an applicant meets the requirements, it shall reject the application and notify the applicant in writing, stating the reasons for the rejection.
8. If approved, the Authority shall draw up the license to be issued to the client, upon presenting their identity document, approval letter, and acknowledgment receipt to be validated by an officer.

Required Documents

• Duly completed and signed Tourism Enterprise Licence Form
• A detailed Business Plan (guidelines provided).
• A certified copy of the Certificate of Incorporation and/or a copy of the Certificate of Registration of the business-trading name.
• Certified copies of share certificates.
• Companies Proclamation i.e. Form 2.
• Certified copies of valid Omang or passport of the shareholders and for expatriate employees, copies of resident/work permits.
• Title deed or lease agreement/rental agreement- if the land was acquired for a different purpose other than for the project you wish to undertake you should apply for a change of use or planning permission, from your local authorities or Land Board.
• Details of vehicles. i.e. Vehicle Registration and Road Worthiness Certificates (Botswana Registered)
• Consent from land authorities for sub-leases and/or rental agreements/transfer of leases/title deeds
• Satisfactory inspection reports of the premises (department of tourism & environmental health)
• Curriculum vitae for the shareholders

Validity

• The validity period of the license is one (01) year and shall remain valid for that stipulated period unless suspended, revoked, or canceled by the Authority.

Need for the Document

• This license allows tourist operations/businesses to receive and transport guests to tourist attractions, including road transfer activities. This license excludes access within wildlife-protected areas of Botswana in relation to the Tourism Act, 2009 and Tourism Regulations 2010.
