Procedure

How to apply:

1. You should contact the Botswana urban and district councils as the issuance of licences has been decentralised to them (check offices below) for more information on how to file the application.
2. Accurately fill in the application form, which is obtained from the above office or click the link below to download .Link
3. submit the completed form along with the required document (listed below) to the urban and district council’s office where the business is located.
4. Once these documents have been received, the application will be processed and forward to the Liquor Control Authority for consideration.
5. you will be notified of the result of the application via mail, SMS, or phone call.
6. If the renewal liquor licence has been approved,you can pick up the licence from the urban and District Counciloffice upon payment of applicable licence renewal fees.

Required Documents

• Certified copy of Omang for owners, shareholders or directors who are citizens.
• Certified copy of passport, work and residence permit for owners, shareholders or directors who are non-citizens.
• The original or certified copy of physical planner's report validating zoning for the plot upon which the activities will occur. Physical planners are employed by the District Council and should be booked by the applicants to validate zoning.
• The original or a certified copy of the environmental health report for the business premises in question. The report must be completed by health inspectors employed by the District Council and the applicant must book the health inspector for inspection.
• The latest copy of the annual returns form obtained from the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property

• renewal fee of BWP100.00.
• The liquor depot licence renewal fee is BWP50.00.

• The licence is valid for one year

Instructions

The Trade Act and the Liquor Act have provided for the establishment of the Trade Licensing Committees, Control Authorities and the Regional Appeals Boards. The issuance of licences has been decentralised to the Local Authorities.

• Name and address of the applicant
• Physical address of the applicant
• Name of Manager and Directors
• Names of shareholders
• Name and address of the Company Secretaries
• Licence details
• Signature of applicant

• A company or an individual must have a valid liquor licence in order to legally sell alcoholic beverages to the public, these is achieved by annually renewal your liquor licence.
