Procedure

How to Apply
Apply In-Person

1. Applicants should visit the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Regional or District Immigration Offices for the application process of the residence permit. {see address/contact details below}.
2. Collect and submit the completed Form 21 “Permanent Residence permit “attached to the relevant supporting documents {as listed below under required document section below} to the Regional or District Immigration office.
3. Animmigration official will verify your application file and if it is correct, proceed and pay the required application fee at the immigration cash counter.
4. Submit the payment receipt and application file to be validated by the immigration official and obtain an acknowledgement letter.
5. The application file will then be forwarded to the department responsible for vetting and assessment.
6. Your application will be processed in approximately 6 months and you will be notified of the outcome by post {letter}.
7. If the application is approved, visit the immigration office on which the application was filed and submit the approval letter, your identification document and acknowledgement slip to be validated by the immigration official, who will then issue you the permanent residence permit.

Requirements Applicable to All

• Covering letter from the applicant
• Two copies of valid certified passport
• Two recent coloured passport size photos per applicant
• Certified marriage certificate if applicable

For immigrants/dependents/missionaries

• Letter of support from supporter/spouse/mission
• Proof of means of support in Botswana
• Most recent month’s bank statement

Employees

• Curriculum Vitae
• Certified educational certificates of the highest level of education obtained
• Reference letter from employer
• Letter of job offer from employer

Investors

• Wages sheet of employees which indicates the duration of employment of   employees
• Certified copies of identity cards for citizen employees
• Submit valid and certified copies of the following:
• Valuation of shares.
• Share certificate.
• Certificate of incorporation.
• Form 2 - List of directors.
• Current year’s financial statements.
• Title deed/lease agreement of business premise(s).
• Trading license.
• Most recent year’s tax return.

Eligibility

Non-citizens who meet the following criteria are eligible for this service.

• Resided lawfully in Botswana continuously for at least 5 years
• Be of good character
• Have made significant contributions to Botswana
• Be of good standing in the society
• Have enough means to support oneself and dependents

Fees

• The processing fee is BWP 3000.00
