ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. The owner of the business or a representative of the business can request for a labour inspection by writing a formal request to the district labour office highlighting specific issues of concern or by visiting or by calling the labour office in your area to make an appointment (offices listed below)
  2. The labour office will schedule a date and time to inspect the requesting business and you will be notified either by mail or by phone or in person.
  3. On the schedule dateand time an inspection will be conducted by the labour inspector and an assessment of the issued concern the business and employees will be noted and a copy of the report of the finding will be issued to the applicant and advice during inspections on how to rectify the problem.
  4. A follow up inspection will then be conduct again to the business to see if the problem(s) has been solved.

Note :
For educational campaigns write to the District labour Officer highlighting issues to be discussed and the proposed date of the visit.

  • Routine inspections
  • Spot check inspections
  • Industrial action inspection


Required InformationEdit

  • Name of the applicant
  • Name of the business/company
  • Physical/postal Address, telephone number of the business
  • Address of the applicant
  • Postal address /telephone or cell name of the applicant
  • State Concern issues

It is required by law for all businesses with employees to be inspected for compliance with the labour laws of Botswana.

In addition to assessing compliance, labour inspections provide an opportunity for business to learn more about labour laws. Inspectors are able to provide advice to businesses with the goal of improving working conditions throughout the country.
