Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry office through the assistance of designated commercial banks like the National Development Bank (NDB) that participate in Government schemes, has introduced various financial assistance interventions, like the Industry Support Facility that aimed at assisting businesses and employees to not only survive, but to also recover and flourish from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2. Interested applicants who wish to obtain the Agriculture Industry Support Facility, should visit the nearest NDB branch office and express their interest in assessing the loan at the customer service desks.
3. Collect and complete the NDB Agriculture - COVID-19 Industry Support Application Form, available at any of the NDB offices or download it via the NDB Form or directly download it using this NDB Agriculture - COVID-19 Industry Support Application Form Link
4. Submit the certified copies of the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page, in addition to the duly completed application form in all respect to the nearest NDB branch office or via Botswana Post Offices or email at [email protected] omission of these documents will render the application process incomplete.
5. Upon receipt of the application file, the NDB receptionist/secretary at the front desk will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for assessment and consideration by the NDB unit responsible.
6. The application will be processed as per the information and documentation provided, that is why applicants are advised to provide sufficient information to enable the NBD to evaluate the business and make its decision.
7. Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the Loan will be communicated to the client in writing /phone/email.
8. If the funding is approved, the applicant will be required to visit the NDB office, where the application was lodged, and produce a proof of identity document to be validated by the authorized official.
9. The borrower shall be made to sign a contract with NDB not to reduce overall employment levels and contribute to domestic production by procuring goods and services locally during the period of the loan.

1. Interested applicants can also submit their application online via the NDB website; Link
2. The application form will be displayed, fill out all mandatory fields accurately, upload all the supporting documentation as listed on the site, and click on the “Submit” tab.
3. Upon receipt of the application file, the NDB office responsible will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for assessment and consideration.
4. The NDB will send the applicant an acknowledgment mail with the Reference number as proof of submission of the application.
5. The application will be processed as per the information and documentation provided, that is why applicants are advised to provide sufficient information to enable the NBD to evaluate the business and make its decision.
6. Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the Loan will be communicated to the client in writing /phone/email.

Required Documents

• One (1) certified copy of National Identity Cards (Omang), for all Batswana applicants, all Shareholders, and Directors.
• One (1) certified copy of passports (for non-citizens).
• A copy of residence permits (Non-citizens), and a Copy of Work permit(s) for Non-citizens Shareholders. 3 Provide printout of CIPA company documents (Certificate of incorporation, Share Certificates [e.tc Link]) trust, AMA, partnerships, and other legal entities.
• Provide copies of all necessary licenses needed to operate the business (i.e. trading licenses).
• Provide lease agreement / Title Deed where appropriate / Land Board Certification.
• If Applicable, a copy of Marriage Certificate, proof of Marriage Regime & Letter of consent.
• A constitution, partnership agreements for partners, syndicates, and trusts (Trust Deeds).
• Resolution by Shareholders/Board/Member to apply for a loan.
• Provide financial statements, income statements & Balance sheets (Year Historic & Two-year Projections for existing entities). Six (6) months Management accounts if applying 6 months into the financial year.
• Where the applicant has loans with other financial institutions - provide 6 months loan statements.
• Provide the latest 6 months (consecutive) Bank statements for the Company and Shareholders.
• Completion of Annexure 1 – Agriculture Project Assumptions
• Cropping/Production plan for projects.
• Provide Production Certificate from Ministry of Agriculture
• Provide relevant quotations and sales agreements.
• Proof of Physical Address, i.e. Utility Bills.

Eligibility

• Citizen and non - citizen-owned businesses already in operation are qualified to apply.
• Applicants must not have benefitted from any other program offered by development finance institutions specifically under the Covid-19 Industry Support Facility.
• Tax registered (have TIN) businesses already in operation (medium and large businesses). Small scale farmers to provide proof of production for 2019/2020 from the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security.
• The funding will be provided towards operating costs and or working capital needs for the short and medium-term.
• The loan amount will be up to a maximum of P1m per business.
• Loans are unsecured and interest-free.
  

Fees

No fee associate with the service.

Validity

30 months loan duration with up to 6 months grace period and 24 months repayment period.
