You may walk-in to the County Clerk of Court where the marriage license issued with as much information and appropriate fee. For fee details contact the County Clerk of Court.
- By Mail
- You may mail the application with as much as information with check or money order to County Clerk of Court where the marriage license was issued.

Required DocumentsEdit
Proof of identification can be established by submitting a current (non-expired), legible photocopy of one of the following forms of identification:
- State Government issued Photo ID or Drivers License
- Bureau of Indian Affairs issued tribal ID card
- US Government issued Military ID card
- US Government issued Passport or Visa
- US Government issued Permanent Resident Card
If you do not have one of the prior forms of identification, you must provide a legible photocopy of two of the following:
- Social Security Card
- Utility bill with current address (can not be more than 3 months old)
- Bank statement with current address (can not be more than 3 months old)
- Pay stub (must include your name, SSN and the name and address of your employer)
- Car registration or title with current address (for the current registration year)
- IRS Tax Return (from the prior year)

- Certified copies of North Dakota marriage certificates are only available from the County Clerk of Court in which the marriage license was issued
- Statewide registration began in 1925, but some counties have earlier marriage records
- As of January 1, 2008, the ND Department of Health no longer issues certified copies of marriage records.
- You may request the certified copies by mail or in person

Need for the DocumentEdit
Marriage certificate is the official record of two people joining together in a marriage. This certificate is required to make the union between two people legally binding. If you have lost your marriage certificate or if you simply want a duplicate copy of your marriage certificate you can obtain one with following the procedure given below.
