ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. The license is issued by the District Registrar of the Registration District concerned.
  2. The application form for the Document writer’s license i.e., “Form No. A” should be obtained from your nearest Registrar office Location Link
  3. The applicant should pass the “Document Writer’s Licensing Test” to get the legal document writer’s license.
  4. The license is issued based on the requirement in each registration district and sub-district.
  5. The licensing authority decides the required number of document writer in the concerned district.
  6. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The filled application should be submitted to the Licensing authority in person or via post with necessary fee receipt.
  8. The complete fee details are mentioned below in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. The challan receipt has to be attached along with the filled in application.
  10. The registrar can accept or reject the application after checking the eligibility criteria and will intimate the candidate.
  11. If the applicant is eligible, then the document writers license will be approved and issued to the applicant by the District Registrar of the Registration District concerned.

The documents required for the document writer application are:

  • An attested copy of Matriculation or Higher Secondary Passing Certificate
  • An attested copy of Character Certificate
  • Recommendation Letter
  • Occupational Proof (If any)
  • Proof of fee payment – Challan Receipt in the name of Treasury

EligibilityEdit

To obtain the document writer license,

  • The individual should not be less than 18 years of age.
  • The individual should be of good character.
  • The individual should have passed the Document Writer’s Licensing Test.
  • The individual should write documents legibly.



FeesEdit

  • The exam application fee is Rs.5
  • The license fee for one sub-district is Rs.25.
  • The renewal fee is Rs.5.
  • In case of obtaining the duplicate copy, lost or damaged license - Rupee One



ValidityEdit

  • The license is valid till 31st December of ever year, irrespective of the issued date.
  • The license has to be renewed by paying renewal application fee of Rs.5.
  • The license renewal application has to be made 15 days before the expiry date.

EXAMINATION – Document Writer’s Licensing Test

  • The exam is conducted by the licensing authority.
  • The fee, time, place, and the language of the examination is notified by the Licensing authority.
  • The candidates are tested on:
    • Stamp and Registration Law
    • Drafting of Document
    • Conveyancing
  • The qualified candidates from the merit list is granted with the “Document Writer License” by the licensing authority.
  • As the notification for the exam is published from time to time, the candidates should carefully follow the exam update.

  • Full Name with Father’s Name
  • Address – Permanent home address and Local Address
  • Age and Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Educational Qualification (If any)
  • Whether the applicant passed Document Writer’s Licensing Test
  • Service as a Document Writer
  • Nature of License for whether it is for a single office or for a district
  • Amount, Number, Date of Challan Receipt and the name of the Treasury
  • Has an application for license ever refused? If so, when and for what reasons.
  • Place
  • Date
  • Signature

  • With the document writer license, the applicant can write legal document to the public.
