Apply In-Person
- The Applicant shall submit an application to the Royal Bahamas Police force, HeadquartersEast street, P. O. Box n 458, Nassau, Bahamas.
- The Application form can be downloaded from the following link: Form Link.
- The applicant can visit the appropriate office with the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” Section along with the original documents and corresponding fees.
- The appropriate department will handle this application.
- The certificate can be picked up at the office where the applicant applied in person, or it will be mailed to the applicant after notification or issued according to the rules.
- If a fingerprint check is necessary, the applicant must provide it.
Apply Online
- The applicant can apply online for the Character Certificate.
- The applicant can use the below link to submit an online application : Online Link
- By clicking the link, the applicant will be redirected to a new page.
- Please follow the screen prompt for “Request for Character Certificate” online application form.
- Once all the details in the application is completed, please click the tab “Continue” at the bottom to reach next page.
- Once the applicant completes the online application process save the acknowledgement for future reference.
- This online application will be processed by the respective department to issue the certificate as per applicable norms.
- Online overseas applicant in addition to the information submitted, must forward a set of fingerprint and copies of the first four pages of a valid passport with a fee of $5.00 US/Bahamian currency for Bahamians and $10.00 US/Bahamian currency for foreign applicants plus mailing cost before the certificate can be issued. Cheques and international money orders must be made payable to the Bahamas Public Treasury.

- In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent.

Processing TimeEdit
- A Bahamian character certificate can be collected on the next day of submission day, except in summer months when it will take 2 working days.
- Non-Bahamian applicant character certificate takes 14 working days to process; unless otherwise specified as in the case of permanent residence in possession of recent expired certificate.

Permanent residents who are in possession of a copy of their recent expired character certificate and permanent residence permit/certificate at the time of application, the 14 days requirement does not apply.
