Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a Trade Certificate in Bihar the applicant has to approach the RTO office of his area. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices.
  2. An Application for the grant of a trade certificate shall be made in Form 16. Application form can be obtained in the following link : Form 16
  3. Applications should be made separately for individual class of vehicles : motor cycle, invalid carriage, light motor vehicle, medium passenger motor vehicle, medium goods vehicle, heavy passenger motor vehicle, heavy goods vehicle, any other motor vehicle of a specified description
  4. Make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
  5. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for this procedure
  6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices
  7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  8. On receipt of an application in respect of a vehicle, the registering authority may, if satisfied shall assign in respect of each certificate a trade registration mark consisting of the registration mark referred to in notification made under sub-section (6) of section 41 and followed by two letters and a number containing not more than three digits for each vehicle, for example
    • AB - Represent State Code.
    • 12 - Registration District Code.
    • TC1 - Trade certificate number for the vehicle.
  9. No applicant for trade certificate shall be refused by the registering authority unless the applicant is given an opportunity of being heard and reasons for such refusal are given in writing.



Apply Online:

  1. Visit the following Portal: portal.
  2. For registration or renewal of a trade certificate the applicant has to fill in the mobile number and email id in given text boxes and press the button “Generate OTP”.
  3. Upon verification of the OTP, the applicant can proceed further.
  4. Now a form will open and data entry for dealers will be proceeding, click on save button for confirming the details.
  5. Now upload required documents and click on the “submit” button.
  6. The payment button will allow the applicant to select the payment gateway. Select SBIePAY payment gateway for the e-payment.
  7. Accept terms and conditions by selecting the checkbox and click on “Payment”. This will open a new page containing a list of banks associated with SBIePAY.
  8. Once the payment is successful, a payment receipt is generated.


Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with ”Required Documents” to the office.
  6. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  7. The operator will process the application online.
  8. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  9. This application will be processed internally. The concerned authorities will check the previous license and current facilities.
  10. Once the verification is over, the issue of the license to the applicant will be final.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  12. If approved, the license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued in a stipulated period of time.

ValidityEdit

A trade certificate granted or renewed shall be in force for a period of twelve months from the date of issue or renewal shall be effective throughout India.

  • No holder of a trade certificate shall deliver a motor vehicle to a purchaser without registration, whether temporary or permanent.
