Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain a Tax File Number (TFN), the applicant has to approach Australian Post or Services Australia centre. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or use the following given Contact Link,Contact Link
- The applicant has to fill-in the details in the form.
- An application form is available at the following Link
- The applicant's application reference number is included in the application summary, which should be printed to approach Australian post.
- Within thirty days of finishing the online form, schedule the interview at a participating Australia Post location.
- Attend the interview and bring the summary of the application as well as the original identification documents.
- To finish the TFN application, sign the form at Australia Post during the interview.
- If the applicant prefers service from an Australia centre, they can order one online or give one to them.
- Applicant should make sure to attach all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
- Submit the application with the required document to appropriate office.

- Government of Australia will issue the certificate and notify the applicant.

- If the applicant is an existing user, they can login directly using their “Username or email” and “Password” by clicking “Sign-in” option in the given page.
- If the applicant is a new user, they have to register first by clicking on the “Create a myGov account” option.
- An applicant has to provide their own email address when they create an account.
- While registering, applicant has to provide all necessary information in the application form and finally click on “Create account” button.
- Once the registration is successful, the applicant can login with their “Username or email” and “Password”.
- After logging in, the applicant has to choose the service necessary for them.
- The Applicant must provide all information necessary for the application procedure online.
- Applicant should make sure to attach all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals)
- There is no fee required for this procedure.
- Government of Australia will issue the certificate and notify the applicant via the applicant via a letter with their TFN in their myGov inbox.

- For taxation purposes, an Australian resident.
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Possess an Australian passport that is not more than three years old.

- For tax and superannuation reasons, a tax file number (TFN) serves as a free means of identification.
- The applicant will own it forever.
- Even if the applicant changes their name, changes occupations, relocates within the country or abroad, they keep the same TFN.
