ProcedureEdit

Every food business (manufacturing, processing, storage distribution and sale of food products) operator must compulsorily obtain FSSAI Registration or License.

Apply In-Person:

  1. Please approach the food and safety department to register.
  2. Link for contact details : link
  3. Obtain the application form from the respective counter OR download using the following link. link
  4. Submit the completed application form duly signed by the proprietor/partner or the authorised signatory as applicable.
  5. This application can be accepted or it may be rejected by the Department within 7 days from the application date and the fact will be intimated to the applicant in writing
  6. If the application is accepted, this application will be processed internally.
  7. Once scrutiny, verification and inspection (if applicable) are satisfactory, then the department will grant a registration certificate carrying unique registration number along with the photo of the applicant.

Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for FBO license, you can use the FOSCOS website. Please click the following link:FOSCOS Website
  2. Click the “Login-Businesses” tab and Under User sign-in Box enter your Application Ref. No./License No./Certificate No. and Click on the “Proceed” button to login.
  3. If you are a new user, then Click on the "Do you want to apply for New License/Registration" and click on the "Apply for License/Registration" tab in the new page.
  4. Next select the state from the dropdown list box and read the Note.
  5. Next select the kind of your business and Select your business type from the list of options.
  6. Next Click on the radio button and finally click on the “Proceed” tab.
  7. On the next page, Click on the “Click here to apply Central License for all Businesses”.
  8. Next Form-B page will be displayed, fill all the required information under premises details section and Click on the “Save & Next” tab.
  9. On the Production selection page, fill all the details for DGFT Authentication and Click on the “Proceed with DGFT validation” to authenticate the details.
  10. Next Click on the “Save” to save the authenticated details. After Successfully Proceeding with DGFT validation, Click on the “Save & Next”.
  11. Next fill all the Communication details and Click on the “Save & Next”.
  12. Under required documents section upload all the relevant documents and Click on the “Save & Next”.
  13. Next pay the fees and submit the application.
  14. After Successful Completing the payment, a receipt will be generated with a 17-digit reference number make a print of it and keep it safe for future reference.
  15. You can track the application through the Home page.
  16. This application will be processed by them and they will notify you through your e-mail or by SMS.

Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with ”Required Documents” to the office.
  6. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  7. The operator will process the application online.
  8. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  9. This application will be processed internally. Once the verification is over, these officials will submit their report to the respective superior authority to decide the issue of the Certificate to the applicant.
  10. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  11. If approved, the certificate will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued in a stipulated period of time.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Generally, FBO who are large manufacturers, importers, exporters dealing in large-scale food business need to obtain FSSAI registration from central government
  • FBO with small to medium sized manufacturing units, transporters, marketers, traders, etc., need to take FSSAI registration from the state government.
