Need for the DocumentEdit

Australia is known to export many goods and services s to its neighboring countries. In Australia exportation is controlled by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Services Department. Therefore all exports must be reported to Customs either by the exporter, Agent, Shipping Company or Airline Company.

To succeed in exporting, a person needs to draw up a plan and no matter what, an export must remain in control of his / her business and should not let the business control him / her. Being familiar with government regulations, clearance rules and duty taxes is important before exporting from Australia.

In Australia thought there are some restricted goods, almost anything can be exported out. In cases of restricted good, exporters are required to write applications for export to the relevant authorities. There are other bodies / agencies that can be contacted in the process of exporting.

The Export Council of Australia (ECA):

  • This is the peak Industry body for the Australian export community.
  • It is a non-profit organization that promotes the Australian industry in international markets, steered by a Board and a Council of Industry specialists. It represents all exporters (large, medium and small) in Australia.
  • The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade): This provides information about export markets, grants and assistance; and further promotes and supports productive foreign investment and international education in Australia which assist Australian businesses to expand their business outside Australia.
  • The export duty and tariff that need to be paid along with exported goods have been relaxed to a great extent allowing countries that like to bring in goods, at extremely affordable rates.
