Procedure

Apply online:

1. To Apply for Rent Allowance, the applicant has to make the application online via link
2. The applicant has to click the “sign in to mygov”.
3. If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Create account”
4. Click the “Continue with email” and read the terms and conditions and then click “Next”.
5. Enter the email address and click the “Next” button.
6. Enter the code which is sent to the email ID and click the “Next” button.
7. Enter the mobile number and click the “Next” button.
8. The applicant needs to create a password and click the “Next” button.
9. The applicants have to click the “Sign-in” enter the user id and password and then click the “Sign-in” button.
10. On the Centrelink page, the applicant has to click the “Upload Documents”.
11. Check the following details and click “Select a document type”.
12. Upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
13. After uploading successfully, the applicant will get the receipt.
14. Check the receipt details and click the “Save the receipt” button.
15. Now the applicant can “sign out” page.
16. Also, the applicant can check the application status by login into the portal.
17. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
18. Then the application will be processed further.
19. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
20. For further process, follow the instruction given by the officer.
21. There is no fee for applying for Rent Allowance.
22. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Apply In Person

   NOTE: Enter the postcode and click the “Locate” button to find the nearest office.

2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. There is no fee for applying for Rent Allowance.
