PROCESS FOR CITIZENS AND NON CITIZENS OF AFGANISTHAN – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN AFGANISTHAN AND OVERSEAS:
- I. Applying process in Afghanistan

- To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Interior – link
- The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
- This entire process can be completed within 2 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- On the scheduled date, go to the office with written request letter along with all the document in original and in copy.

- A consular fee must be paid. The consular fee varies by the consulates.
- This application will be processed by the respective department.
- Completed certificate will be delivered to the applicant as per norms for the respective country.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
- Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
- The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
- Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Applications for police certificate can be made either in in-person or by post. Applications must contain identity documents for the applicants as well as the individuals whose criminal record clearance is requested.
The Embassies accepts applications from individuals residing in abroad requesting a police certificate (or criminal record clearance) on behalf of Afghan nationals who may or may not be residing in Afghanistan at the time of application.
Police certificates are issued based on information provided to the Embassy by the Afghan National Police (ANP) authorities in Afghanistan, and takes approximately one month to be processed.
