Delaware's Office of Vital Statistics does not accept credit cards through the internet or online orders for records.
For your convenience, however, you can process online requests for records through an independent company that Delaware's Office of Vital Statistics have partnered with to provide you this service VitalChek Network, Inc. VitalChek can be reached either through its website or by calling this number: 1-877-888-0248.
Note: VitalChek charges additional fee for using their service, and all major credit cards are accepted, including American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa.
Delaware's Office of Vital Statistics protects the confidentiality and legality of all vital records in its possession. The Vital Statistics Review Subcommittee, an interdivisional panel, reviews all requests for information for research and investigation prior to the release of information to others.

You must be the child, parent, spouse, legal guardian, or have other legal authorities are eligible to access Delaware death records. Proof of your identity will be required when you make your request.

- Delaware Vital Records - Georgetown (Delaware Vital Records) issues certified copies of death certificates for events which occurred within the state of Delaware.
- Death Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of Delaware from 1966 to present.
- Child, parent, spouse, legal guardian, or have other legal authorities can obtain individual copies of death certificates through any of the following:
- In person at any of three locations around the state
- Via a written request to the Office of Vital Statistics located in the Jesse S. Cooper Building in Dover
- Online through the VitalChek Network Delaware webpage
- Via telephone by calling 1-877-888-0248
- Make checks or money orders payable to the Office of Vital Statistics. (If record is not located, fee will be retained for search).
- Copy of your official valid photo identification
Required InformationEdit
- Full name of the deceased person
- Full name of the applicant
- Date of death
- Place of death
- Fathers full name
- Mothers full name, to include her maiden name
- Requesters relationship to the person named on the certificate
- Requesters reason for requesting the certificate
- Applicants must submit proof of their relationship or documentation to establish their legal interest in obtaining vital records.
