Eligibility

For the analysis of food chemistry analyses, a single chemical residue, or a class of chemical residues in raw or processed meat and poultry products, analytical laboratories may be accredited.

Fees

• For the first analyse class accreditation, the annual cost is $5,000;
• For the second, $2,900;
• And for each successive one, $2,100.
  

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

Need for the Document

The Moisture, Protein, Fat, and Salt (MPFS) content of meat and poultry food products, as well as specific classes of chemical residues, are analysed by non-federal analytical chemistry laboratories accredited by the FSIS Accredited Laboratory Program (ALP).

Information which might help

• Chemical testing of meat and poultry food products is the only type of accreditation available.
• The analytical laboratory may replace an FSIS laboratory for the purpose of testing official regulation samples after it has been accredited.
