ProcedureEdit

Step – 1 Course

  1. Before Registering as an Archaeologist, the applicant has to complete the graduation.
  2. Obtain a bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field as a minimum requirement.
  3. Many professional archaeologists hold advanced degrees (master's or Ph.D.) to specialize in specific areas of archaeology.
  4. Participate in fieldwork, excavations, and archaeological projects to gain practical experience. Field experience is crucial for developing skills and understanding archaeological methods and techniques.
  5. Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
  6. Build connections within the archaeological community by attending conferences, workshops, and events. Networking can help you learn about job opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.
  7. Pursue a master's or Ph.D. degree in archaeology if you want to specialize further or engage in academic research.



Step – 2 Join Member in SAA

  1. To join a member of the Society of American Archaeology, the applicant has to make the application online via [http://www.saa.org/ link]
  2. Select the language base and click the “APPLICATION – ENGLISH” or “APPLICATION – SPANISH”
  3. Enter all the sign-up details and click the “Save” button.
  4. Now the applicant has to sign in with a username and password and click the “SIGN IN”
  5. The applicant has to select the form from the menu list.
  6. Enter all the details in the application form.
  7. And upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. Pay the prescribed amount fee in online mode.
  9. Once completed with all the details click the “Submit” button.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further for all types of verification.
  12. Once the process is done, the applicant will receive an email confirmation for membership.



Step - 4

  1. To Register as an Archaeologist, the applicant has to approach the respective state office or institution.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  10. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  11. The applicant will get the dental license through the mail.
  12. This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to register as an archaeologist with the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA), you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have a bachelor's degree in archaeology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • You must have at least two years of full-time archaeological experience.
  • You must pass the RPA's rigorous exam.
