Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain Medical Examiners Certificate for Drivers, the applicant has to Mail the application to U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION link
- The applicant has to download the application form from the following link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- The applicant has to schedule an appointment for a physical examination. The exam will include a review of the medical history and a physical exam to check his/her vision, hearing, blood pressure, and other vital signs.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- The concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set after receiving the application. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgement receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The medical examiner will conduct the physical examination and ask questions about the medical history. If the applicant meets the medical standards, the examiner will issue a MEC.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
