ProcedureEdit

  1. Go to this site: https://www.alabamainteractive.org/ador_pt/welcome.action, to search and reserve.
  2. Pay the reservation fee.
  3. Visit your local tag office, place your order for that tag, and pay the appropriate fees.
  4. You will be given a temporary tag along with the month and year decals to be placed on the new tag when it arrives within four to six weeks.
  5. Pay the standard registration fees based on your type of vehicle, plus an additional yearly fee of $50 for passenger cars or motorcycles.

  • A personalized license plate can be searched and reserved online at the Department of Revenue for a reservation fee of $2.
  • If the license is available, the department must approve it. You have five days from requesting a specific message to visit your local tag office, place your order for that tag, and pay the appropriate fees.
  • A temporary tag will be given to you along with the month and year decals to be placed on the new tag when it arrives within four to six weeks.

Owners of private passenger and commercial vehicles , and some motorcycle, bus, camper or antique vehicles may order personalized tags for their vehicles. The combination of letters/numbers requested must not conflict with the regular number system and is subject to State of Alabama Revenue Department approval. A maximum of seven characters will be allowed.
