Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. Ration Card holder shall approach the Clerk at District Supply Office (DSO) for urban area and Gram Panchayat Officer (GPO) in the rural areas to add or delete name in ration card.

For Urban Area

1. Please go to the respective DSO office.
2. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used.
3. Please submit the completed application along with required documents to the respective authority.
4. Authorities after checking the submitted application along with attached documents will make entries and provide him a record number for reference.
5. Keep it safe for future reference.
6. This application will be forwarded to the concerned authority (SI) for verification. The concerned official visits the house of the applicant for verification and approves the request, if the applicant is found eligible.
7. SI sanctions the issue of new ration card. Clerk updates the master register & Ration Card and makes a new copy of ration card if required.
8. Applicant produces the acknowledgement receipt before clerk and Ration Card is delivered to him.

For Rural Area

1. Please go to the respective GPO office.

Eligibility

• A valid ration card holder.
• The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be resident of the state.
• The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
• The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
• New born above 5 years.
• Addition of member's name after marriage.

Fees

• Fee information can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.

Validity

• Validity remains same.
• Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.
