Procedure

To Install Mobile App

1. To install panic button in mobile phones (women safety), please use the following link
2. In the given page, please select the menu icon and choose “Download” option to reach the “Download” page.
3. Please use the applicable download mode “Google Play” or “App Store” as per the applicant’s mobile type to reach the respective download page.
4. Please use the “Install” button to install the application.
5. Once the installation is completed, please use the “Open” button to reach the home page of the application.
6. Here, please click on the “Select your state” prompt. A disclaimer pop-up will be provided. Please click “I AGREE” for this disclaimer.
7. Another pop-up with a message “Allow 112 India to make and manage phone calls?” will be provided. Please click on the “Allow” button.
8. Another pop-up with a message “Allow 112 India to access this device’s location?” will be provided. Please click on the “Allow only while using the app” button.
9. Another pop-up with a message “Allow 112 India to access photos and media on your device?” will be provided. Please click on the “Allow” button.
10. Now please select your state from the dropdown list under “Select your state” and enter your mobile number at the “Mobile Number (10 digit)*” prompt and click “Connect” button.
11. A pop-up “Welcome to112” will be provided. Please click the “OK” button to get a verification code in your mobile.
12. Please enter the received code at the appropriate prompt and click on the “Verify” button.
13. A new pop-up with instruction will be provided. Please click the “OK” button to get “Profile” screen.
14. Please complete the screen prompts as appropriate and click on the checkbox for “Like to act as a Volunteer?” if the applicant wanted to be a volunteer. Finally, click on the “Submit” button.
15. The applicant will reach the map with current location positioned.
16. Now the applicant shall make use of the options “112 Police” or “Fire” or “Medical” or “Others” button at the bottom as per requirement for your need.
17. This is an emergency facility. Users are advised to use this service carefully.

Note:

• If you require emergency assistance from Police, Fire or Health departments or from any other services, you may:
  • Dial 112 from your phone.
  • Press power button on your smartphone 3 times in quick succession to activate Panic call.
  • Long press ‘5’ or ‘9’ key on your feature phone to activate Panic call.
  • Log-on to State "ERSS" website and place your "SOS "request.
  • Email "SOS" alert to Emergency Response Centre in the State.
  • Use 112 India mobile app (available in "Google Play store" and "Apple Store") to activate a panic call.

Need for the Document

• The panic button for women safety is provided through the “Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)”. This is a Pan-India single number (112) based emergency response system for citizens in emergencies. To avail the service, the public should install this application.
• This application helps the user in emergency assistance from Police, Fire or Health departments or from any other services.

Information which might help

• A dedicated “Emergency Response Centre (ERC)” with a team of trained call-takers and dispatchers to handle emergency requests relating to assistance from police, fire & rescue, health and other emergency services are provided by the respective states.
• The “112 India App” provides a special “SHOUT” feature which alerts registered volunteers in the vicinity of the victim for immediate assistance.
