Procedure

Apply Online

1. To Request for Shifting or Moving (Change Address) of Electricity (EB) Meter, Service Line Or Meter Premises, the applicant has to use the following link link
2. The applicant has to select the “Shift of Meters/Equipment/ lines/ structure” from the apply option.
3. Select the “Shifiting of public” followed by select the “Shifiting of meters” or “Shifiting of Meters/Structure”
4. Enter the mobile number and email ID and click the “Generate OTP” button.
5. The applicant has to enter the OTP received from the given mobile number.
6. Followed by select the application form.
7. Enter all the details in the application form.
8. And upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
9. Pay the prescribed amount fee in online mode.
10. Once completed with all the details click the “Submit” button.
11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
13. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
14. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
15. The officer will visit the place and complete requirements as required.
16. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for requesting for Shifting or Moving (Change Address) of Electricity (EB) Meter, Service Line or Meter Premises of electricity supply, the applicant needs to approach to the Electricity Department.
2. Obtain the application form from the authorities.
3. Fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents.
4. Make sure you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section.
5. The authorities will conduct a quick survey and provide an estimate of the amount to be submitted.
6. The applicant needs to pay the estimated amount or any additional custom deposits or development charges to the authorities.
7. The shifting will be provided as required.

  • Letter of allotment
  • An applicant who is not an owner but an occupier of the premises shall, along with any one of the documents listed at (i) to (iii) above, also furnish a No Objection Certificate from owner of the premises.

Eligibility

• The applicant should be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
• The applicant should have an active electricity connection.
• No shifting of an existing service connection is permissible unless all arrears in the service connection are paid.
  

Fees

Validity

The category shift is applicable as long as mentioned by the applicant, or as long as the applicant’s willing to change the category/address again.
