Telangana - Obtain a Duplicate Driver License

If your driver license is valid and it’s stolen or lost, then you would have to file an FIR with the local police station and you will be requested to produce the report with the application.

Apply In-Person

To apply for a Duplicate Driver License in Telangana the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office List

The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for driver license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
As a first step, please schedule an appointment at an appropriate date and time that is suitable for you.
Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
If the testing authority is satisfied with your driving skills a driving license will be provided.

Apply through State Portal

Application for Duplicate Driver License can be made through State Online Portal
Click on the “Click here to book online slot” option.
The applicant will be redirected to a new page.
Please click the “Duplicate of License” link that is displayed under the “Driving License” section of the page.
Click on the “Slot Booking” option and follow the instructions on the page.
Finally click on the “I Agree” option.
In the next screen presented, fill in the mandatory details and request for OTP. Enter the Captcha.
In the next page, you have to choose the day and time that you are planning to visit the RTO office related to the application and click “Next” button that is displayed on the bottom of the screen.
Please follow the instructions that are displayed in the following pages for filling the application forms and making payments and uploading required documents.
Take printout of the application form including acknowledgement and go to RTO office before 11:30 a.m. on the date of appointment and Present the completed application forms along with required documents in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fees.

Apply Through T App Folio

Download the “T App Folio” app from the play store.
After installing register to get into the app.
Provide the contact number or email id necessary and register.
On the homepage click on the “Transport Department – RTA” icon.
Under the new page that is displayed, click on the “Driving License” icon.
Then click on the “Duplicate” option and follow the instruction shown on the screen.
Enter the details required in the application form, upload the files required and pay the fees.
Once these steps are completed click on the “Submit” button.
Payments can be made through UPI, Net Banking or credit/debit cards.
An official SMS will be sent to the registered mobile with the application number and other instructions.
The application status can be checked by clicking on the “My Transactions” option.

Original licence written or defaced if available.
Attested photocopies of DL if available in case of loss of licence.
Fees as prescribed along with user charges
The original license is to be surrendered in case of driving license mutilated, torn or damaged.
Police Certificate FIR (in case of theft)
Aadhaar Card
Passport size photos-2 copies
The original license is to be surrendered in case of driving license mutilated, torn or damaged.
An ID Proof with your photo and a residential proof is required. (Voter's card, Aadhaar Card, passport etc. can be used for this purpose.)

A Driving License for a private vehicle is valid up to a period of 20 yrs or an age of 50 yrs whichever is experienced earlier. But, a commercial Driving License is valid up to three years.

Need for the DocumentEdit

A driving license is an official document that states that a person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway.
Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
Driving without Driving license is an offense. Incumbent has to pay penalty
In order to avoid unnecessary penalty and enquiry one has to get the duplicate driving license for the one they lost or damaged.
