ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. In order to apply for Social Security Old Age Pension (Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension and state old age pension) scheme, the applicant has to approach their concerned Block Development Office / Municipal Corporation / Municipality / Panchayat office / District Social Security Officer’s office where the applicant resides as appropriate.
  2. Here, select the menu option “DIRECTORY” > “PUBLIC UTILITIES” > “Municipalities” for contact details AND Panchayat contact link in the given page please select the hyperlink against the respective state as per requirement for contact details.
  3. Please visit the respective office. Please consult with the concerned authority at the office to find the right office to apply for the scheme. Go to the respective office. Consult with the designated authority about the applying procedure for this scheme. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  4. Complete the application form. Attach the document as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised.
  5. After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place the application will be accepted.
  6. Please find the fee details provided under the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. The authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
  8. Acknowledgement receipt will be given against every form received. So, collect it and please keep it safe for future reference.
  9. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the scheme.
  10. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
  11. This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents. If required, the authorities will visit the applicant’s place as per the address provided on the application form to make field verification.
  12. After verification, these applications will be sent to the respective sanctioning department with the consent of the verification authorities.
  13. Concerned sanctioning authority will take the right decision against the appeal.
  14. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection, if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS”.
  15. The entire process can be completed within 45 days of receipt of application. Once approved, the pensioner will be eligible to get the pension from the first week of next month onwards (or as per sanctioned period) Based on the availability of funds.
  16. For any updates and clarification, the applicant shall revisit the office where they applied.


Note:
  • Old age pension scheme is determined in different schemes as named by the respective state social welfare / revenue department as appropriate.
  • The local administrative department must identify and provide old aged pensions to eligible beneficiaries.
  • Applicant has to bring original documents to the applying office while applying for cross verification purpose and scanning, if required.
  • Eligible pension amount fixed by the Government from time to time shall be sent to the beneficiary through bank account / post office account / money order / distributed personally as per the applicable norms of the respective state.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicant should be citizen of India.
  • Applicant must be a permanent Resident of the respective State (Or as per the time period fixed by the respective state).
  • No person shall be eligible for the pension, if the person applied for any other Social Welfare pensions.
  • For the state pension scheme – The age should be 65 for men and 58 for women (or the age limit as fixed by the respective state) and above.
  • For the central pension scheme – The age should be 60 (or the age limit as fixed by the respective state) and above.
  • The applicant should fall under Below Poverty Line (BPL).
  • Applicant should not be a recipient of salary / pension / family pension from Central Government / other State Governments.
  • Any person receiving pension from any Government or Local/ Statutory Body or from any organization substantially financed by any Government or Local/ Statutory Body will not be eligible to apply for this scheme.

  • There is no fee required for this service. Please follow the authority’s guidelines for any charges (if required).

  • Beneficiary will get pension as long as they are alive.

  • Usually the application will be processed within 45 days of receipt of application. But, the sanction of the incentive will be processed as per the department’s timeline based on the current financial year requirements.

InstructionsEdit

  • Under the state pension scheme, the beneficiary will be paid Rs. 1500/- per month.
  • Under the central government pension scheme
    • The monthly pension - Rs 200 (or the amount fixed by the respective state) for persons between 60 years and 79 years of age will be provided.
    • For persons who are 80 years and above the pension is Rs 500 (or the amount fixed by the respective state) per month.
  • Without cross signature on photograph and signature on the undertaking, the application will be rejected.
  • Do not submit fake documents as proof to obtain this certificate.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
  • Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this scheme is being found false or incorrect.
