Nagaland - Obtain a Family Tree Certificate

ProcedureEdit

A "family tree" is a self-prepared genealogy / pedigree by the family members that can be attested by a government body, generally a revenue official (or tahsildar).
Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicant shall prepare the draft in word format describing the family tree structure.
  2. Buy an Rs.100 stamp / e-stamp paper or as per advised amount.
  3. Print the draft on the stamp paper.
  4. Meet the notary public near you.
  5. Please submit the draft printed stamp paper along with the entire required document as per our “Required Documents” section.
  6. Notary public will read the printed stamp paper, Affidavit, certificate and cross verity the proofs.
  7. Once the verification is over, notary public will ask the deponent to sign the Affidavit/certificate.
  8. Deponent should sign at the notified place in front of the notary public.
  9. Notary public will seal, attest, sign, and make an entry in a notary book.
  10. This completes the execution of family tree certificate.


Attestation from Revenue department

  1. In order to attest family tree certificate, applicant has to go to the respective Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate office in whose jurisdiction the candidate usually resides.

  3. Go to the respective office.
  4. Meet the designated authority. Please provide the family tree draft as prepared by the notary public along with the entire required document as per our “Required Documents” section.
  5. After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place the application will be accepted with applicable fees as appropriate.
  6. Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using computer.
  7. Acknowledgement receipt will be given against every form received. So, collect it and please keep it safe for future reference.
  8. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of collecting the certificate.
  9. Designated authority will forward this application to the concerned tahsildar/ revenue inspector / designated authority for their attestation.
  10. This application will be processed internally. Once it is attested by respective revenue officer, certificate will be dispatched or handed over directly as per the request made while applying.

  • Wife/Husband/Son/Daughter/Mother of a deceased may apply for a family tree certificate.
  • Those who are in need of inheriting property as per will are eligible to apply.

  • Stamp charges as appropriate (Hundred rupee stamp paper)
  • Please pay the charges as appropriate at the time of processing.
  • Please pay as per notary charges.

  • This certificate is valid for lifetime.
