Apply In-Person:

  1. To Register a Goshala (Cow Shed), the applicant shall approach their respective Local Animal Husbandry Department (Municipality Corporation/local body) link link
  2. Before the process begins, the applicant has to decide on the legal structure of your Goshala, whether it will be a trust, society, or a company. This choice may affect the registration process.
  3. And then choose a suitable location for the Goshala. Ensure compliance with local zoning regulations and environmental norms.
  4. The applicant has to prepare the required documents and needs to visit the office.
  5. If the applicant opts for a trust or society, he/she must register under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, or the Indian Trusts Act, respectively.
  6. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  8. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  9. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  10. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  11. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  12. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  13. Acknowledgment receipt is given to the applicant, keep it safe and use it for further reference.
  14. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
  15. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
  16. Also, expect a site inspection by the concerned authorities to ensure that the Goshala complies with the necessary standards and regulations.
  17. Upon successful inspection and verification of documents, the applicant will receive the registration certificate from the authorities.
  18. After registration, ensure ongoing compliance with all regulations, including animal welfare laws and any specific guidelines provided by the authorities.
  19. This entire process can be completed within 4 to 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
