Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. An application for the issue of permit for the transport of teak from the government lands /private lands, shall be made to the respective office of the district forest officer / divisional forest officer / the authority concerned having jurisdiction over the area from which such produce is proposed to be transported.

3. Please visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority. The authority will provide the details about the process and the forms that need to be submitted as per the land type. Please collect the applicable application form if provided, or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
4. Please complete the application form. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it in triplicate to the respective authority designated for this purpose.
5. The authorities will check the application form and documents. The authority will fill the information/details that are supposed to be furnished from their end. The applicants are advised to pay the fees or charges as per authorities quote.

7. The authorized officer will sign the permit form along with seal and date in all the three sets.
8. The original will be hand-over to the applicant moving the timber. The duplicate copy will be sent to the officer in charge of the forest and the authority will retain the triplicate as counterfoil for record in their office.
9. Now, the teak wood load can be transported within a period of one month from the date of the issue of the permit.
10. Once the vehicle reaches the first check post, please submit the permit obtained to the counter authority.
11. If required, the teak wood in transit shall be examined at the first checking station as per norms.
12. The checking will be carried out to make sure that the teak wood actually comes from the place and is of the kind stated in the permit. Also, authorities will make sure that the quantity is not in excess of the quantity specified therein the permit.
13. Once the verification and checking is satisfactory, the way permit (transit permit) will be sanctioned, duly noting the vehicle number carrying the teak wood.
14. The check post authority will retain the permit and also the duplicate copy of way permit for the office record. The applicant/person will be issued a way permit (transit permit) in original.
15. The way permit (transit permit) shall be produced and endorsed at all subsequent checking stations.
16. The way permit (transit permit) can be obtained on the same day or the next day.

Note:

• The respective authority of the forest department of the host state who issues a pass (transit permit) for the transport of teak wood into or outside the State shall intimate the other state respective authority of the forests department about the transit of teak wood before it reach its destination along with a copy of the pass.

Note:

• For every state, the requirement of the documents can be different. So, please get the required documents list from the concerned authorities beforehand.
• Apart from the above documents, the authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

Eligibility

• The applicant should be a citizen of India.
• Those who are 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
• As per the respective state norms, the applicant may be expected to provide any such permit for the possession of teak wood.

Fees

• The fee for the permit form needs to be paid as per the department norms. Please pay the fees as advised by the authorities.

Validity

• The teak wood need to be transported within one month or as per the period mentioned by the department from the date of issue of transit permit.
• Every way pass (transit pass) for the transportation of teak wood issued shall be valid only for the period mentioned therein.

Instructions

• The way pass (transit permit) shall be in the possession of the person in charge of the teak wood in transit.
• Every way pass (transit permit) shall be produced for examination when demanded by any Revenue, Police or Forest Officer.
• No teak wood shall be transported into the State by road or water beyond the first check post without having the pass stamped at the respective first check post.
• Any change of place of storage of the teak wood should be notified.
• Do not submit fake documents as proof to get the permit.
• Incomplete application will not be accepted.
• Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.

Need for the Document

• No person shall transport teak wood into, within or outside the respective state (unless there is no requirement of a transit permit in certain areas) except in accordance with a pass (transit permit) issued
• It is a punishable offence to transport teak wood without such pass (transit permit).

• The ownership of the teak wood obtained from the private lands, markets or deports shall be indicated by a property mark.
• The pass (transit permit) shall not be transferable.
