Maharashtra - How to Pay Electricity Bill

Electricity bill payment for the electricity consumed by a consumer shall be paid to the respective state electricity board (department).
“Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd” (MSEDCL) commonly known as “Mahavitaran” is the electricity regulation board operating within the state of Maharashtra.
Payment of electricity bill shall be paid by
1. Pay Online
2. Pay In-Person
3. Pay through App
4. Pay through other sources

Tariff:

There is different amount charged for residential and commercial users. The rate of per unit charge varies with state to state and as per the slab decided by the respective electricity board.

Pay in person

Consumers shall pay their electricity bill in the “Consumer Facilitation Centers”. Please follow the link for CFC : CFC Link.
Go to the respective center and pay your bill amount along with the bill to make payment.
The counter staff will issue you the receipt for the payment made

Through BillAvenue Collection Agent

A BillAvenue BBPS Collection agent can easily fetch bills from “Mahavitaran” bill pay BBPS system and collect payment for MSEDCL power bills from the respective consumers

In the given page, please enter / select the prompted details(Consumer type, number, BU and captcha and hit “Submit” to reach the next page
User can view the details of the consumer and details. If the details provided are ok, please hit ”make payment”.
Next screen gives bill details and amount to pay. User can fill in the amount to pay and hit “pay now”. A popup screen prompts the user for the amount mentioned to pay. User shall select ok to reach the payment page
In the payment page, please select the payment option followed by sub option if any for the selected type and hit respective button to reach the payment gateway page.
Please fill in the applicable details and follow the screen prompts to progress for completing the online payment process.
Once the payment is made, an acknowledgement for the payment received will be prompted. User can save / print it for future reference

MSEDCL Mobile App

This app can be downloaded using the google playstore. Link link
Once the app is installed, user has to login to access the options.
Once logged in, user will get the screen with options to choose, please select View / Pay bill option to pay.
Once the next screen reached, please provide the prompted details and proceed for making payment using appropriate option.
Once the payment gateway page is reached, user can select respective payment gateway option to make the payment.
Please fill in the applicable details and follow the screen prompts to progress for completing the online payment process.
Once the payment is made, an acknowledgement for the payment received will be prompted. User can save / print it for future reference

Prepaid Meter Online Recharge

User can access the online prepaid payment page using the following link: online prepaid link
Please enter the consumer number and follow the screen prompt to login.
You will be directed to the main page of prepaid application.
Click on Token option as listed under menu.
Here consumer has to enter the amount and click on Recharge Now Button, following screen will appear
In the given screen, user has to select the payment mode (Net banking / Credit / Debit) and follow the screen prompt and hit the respective button to reach the next page
Once the payment gateway page is reached, user can select respective payment gateway option to make the payment.
Please fill in the applicable details and follow the screen prompts to progress for completing the online payment process.
Once the payment is made, an acknowledgement for the payment received will be prompted. User can save / print it for future reference

Other Apps to pay

Users shall use the private app’s to make payment of electricity bill. Please make sure with the respective department officials to confirm about these service providers to make payment
Electricity bill can be paid through following apps Paytm, Amazon, Freecharge, Mobikwik etc,.

Apply through app

To Pay Electricity Bill, the applicant can download any type of payment app like Gpay link, Phonepe link, amazon pay link, Paytm link.
The applicant has to download the app by using the link.
First the applicant needs to completed the registration process.
For registration enter the mobile number and in registered number the applicant gets the OTP number.
Enter the OTP code and add on the bank account in the app.
For paying electricity bill, the applicant has to search for Maharashtra Electricity Board.
To link the electricity account in the app, the applicant has to enter the consumer number.
- NOTE: Format of the consumer number – “Regional code, section distribution, and service number.
And enter the name (optional), and add the registered mobile number which is given in the electricity board.
The applicant gets the monthly payment amount.
Now, the applicant has to click the “Pay” button and enter the amount.
Enter the UPI password and the payment will be processed.
There is no fee for this app.
The processing time for this procedure is within a minute.

The individual should be a resident of the state.
Consumers are eligible to pay the electricity bill.
Every applicant has to have a meter reading to calculate consumption

FeesEdit

Electricity bills are generated with the slab rates applicable for the units consumed as per the state regulations
As a consumer, it is mandatory to pay prescribed amount as advised by respective board. (even the electricity is not consumed, each states has different default charges levied to its active consumers and the same has to be paid)

The electricity bill generated for the period has to be paid before the due date.
There will be a penalty for late payment. Authorities has the power to suspend the connection
This payment is valid for the consumed electricity units
