Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Get Departmental franking machine, the applicant has to approach the Head of the Postal Division Licensing Authority link

   Note: The applicant has to select State / Union Territory and city/ district from the drop-down menu or the applicant can enter post office name and click “Search” button.

2. First, the applicant should buy a "Digi Frank Plus" franking machine of any model that is approved by the Department of Posts from an authorized Franking Machine Vendor.
3. Then applicant has to visit the post office and pay or deposit the license fee of 375INR.
4. The authority will issue the payment receipt as a proof of payment.
5. After the payment, the applicant can apply for the license along with the receipt.
6. The application forms are available at the post office.
7. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
8. Applicants must provide the list of clients and consent letters from the clients.
9. Once the application is verified, the license is approved.
10. The licensing authority authenticates the soft copies with his signature and designation stamp.
11. The applicant will be given a username and password for uploading details of the licenses like License Identifier, License Number/CRN, date of issue/expiry of the license, Licensee name/address/contact numbers, License Type, designated post office/DMO/DFPO.
12. The status of the license is altered to "Registered" after the previous step is completed.
13. The post office will mail the hard copy to the applicant and keep one for the records.
14. The license certificate is issued within ten days of application. Any reason for delay will be notified to the applicant.

Eligibility

• Any group or individual with a valid client list can apply for Departmental Franking machine license.

Fees

• The fee for new franking machine license is 375 INR.

Validity

• The Franking Machine license is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

Note: After the expiry of the license, the applicant can renew their license by approaching the post office.

Commercial Franking Machine License

• The Commercial Franking Machine License is only to the consumer who submitted a list of clients along with their consent letter on their behalf.

Departmental Franking Machine License

• This license is exclusively provided for Department of Posts.
