Procedure

In Maharashtra, one has to register the Tenant’s details with the Police for Tenant Verification.
Apply In-Person:

1. To register Tenant’s details in Maharashtra, get the Tenant Verification form from the nearest Police Station.
2. Carry the photocopy of the Tenant’s Id Proof and 2 Passport size Photos of Tenant.
3. Fill the required details of the Property, Property Owner and Tenant.
4. Attach the Required Documents such as Id Proofs and Passport size photographs.
5. Duly sign the form and submit the form at the nearest Police Station.
6. To find your Police Station, select your city or district from the Link Maharashtra Police.
7. In the redirected district/city’s webpage, click on “police Station” and locate your Police Station from the list.

Apply Online - Apply to get Tenant Verification Online with Images

1. To register the Tenant’s Details with the Police in Maharashtra, visit the link: Tenant Registration.
2. In the given window, click on Online Services.
3. In the new webpage, click on “Create New Login”
4. The page will refresh and display a form to fill your details to create a citizen Login account.
5. Once you create your account, login and click on Citizen Services.
6. Now select “Tenant/PG Information Request” and from there select “Add Tenant/PG Information Detail”
7. Fill the Details of Property Owner and Property Details.
8. Fill the details of the Tenant and Upload the required documents.
9. Provide details of Persons knowing the Tenant.
10. Check the details filled for any correction before you submit the form. Submitted forms cannot be altered.
11. Enter the Captcha details and click on submit.
12. The Police would ask the Tenant or Property Owner to visit the Police Station if any verification is necessary.
13. The Police would keep a record of the Tenant’s information and would inform the landlord if the Tenant is a criminal or a troublemaker.

• Photo identity proof of the Tenant of maximum file size 4 MB and file format .jpeg,.pdf or .png.
• Passport size photos of the Tenant.

Need for the Document

• An FIR could be filed against a Landlord for letting out an apartment to a Tenant without registering the Tenant’s information with the Police.
• Under any circumstances, it is advisable to collect details of your Tenant and Register your Tenant with the Police before you rent out your Apartment or Building.
• Terrorists and Criminals usually try to rent a place with forged documents. Thus, registering your Tenant with the Police would help you avoid any issues in the future.
