- To Apply for Tourist Cab (Jeep Omni Car) Permit in Maharashtra the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : Regional Office Locations, Transport Commissioners Office Locations
- Application Form P.CO.T.A is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : English Application Forms, Marathi Application Forms
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.

- To apply for tourist vehicle permit (Jeep/Omni/Car), the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.

EligibilityEdit
Any registered owner of a transport vehicle can apply for the permit. However there are restrictions or permits are made available only after notification of Government of Maharashtra.

- Demand Draft for Rs. 2500/- for tourist permit drawn in favour of the Secretary, State Transport Authority.

ValidityEdit
- A tourist permit shall be deemed to be invalid from the date on which the motor vehicle covered by the permit completes 9 years in the case of a motor cab and 8 years where the motor vehicle is other than a motor cab, unless the motor vehicle is replaced;
- Where a vehicle covered by a tourist permit is proposed to be replaced by another, the latter vehicle shall not be more than two years old on the date of such replacement.
NOTE: For the purposes of this sub-rule, the period of [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

Applicants may approach the Office of the Deputy Commissioner / Chairman (STA) who is in charge of issuing Tourist Vehicle Permits.
- Grant of Tourist Vehicle Permit.
State Transport Authority for the purpose of promoting tourism, grant permits in respect of tourist vehicles valid for the whole of India, or in such contiguous States not being less than three in number including the State in which the permit is issued.
- Application and procedure for grant of Tourist Vehicle Permit.
- An application for the grant of tourist vehicle permit is required to be made in Form 45 to the State Transport Authority.
- An application for the grant of authorisation for a tourist permit has to be made in Form 46 accompanied by a fee as specified in CMVR 83 in the form of a bank draft.
- Authorisation should be granted in Form 47 and separate receipts for taxes or fees should be hand over to the permit holder, on security printed watermark paper carrying hologram as specified by the concerned State/Union Territory.
- The authority which grants the authorisation has to inform to the State Transport Authorities of the other States, the registration number, the name and address of the permit holder and the period for which the said authorisation is valid.
- If the permit holder undertakes to pay the tax directly to the concerned State Transport Authority at the time of entry in his jurisdiction, the authorisation should expressly state that it has been issued subject to payment of taxes to the concerned State Transport Authority.
- Authorisation is valid for the period of one year.
- A tourist permit of motor cab is valid up 9 years and 8 years where the motor vehicle is other than a motor cab, unless the motor vehicle is replaced;

- Status of the applicant, whether individual, company or partnership firm, Coop. Society etc.
- Name of father or husband (in case of individual and in case of firm or company the particulars of managing partner or managing director as the case may be.
- Full address
- Information on whether applicant himself/herself intends to drive the vehicle. If so, whether, applicant:
- Holds Heavy Passenger Motor vehicle Driving Licence
- The number, date and validity period of driving licence
- Name and address of the Licensing Authority.
- Registration certificate along with the date of first registration and Insurance certificate number.
- Details of other permits if any, held in respect of a particular vehicle
- Details of total number of Tourist Permits held by the applicant
- Type of vehicle
- Make of Motor vehicle
- Particulars of convictions/suspension/ cancellation, if any, during the past three years in respect of the vehicle/permit held by the applicant(s)

- Registration mark and year of manufacture and date of registration of the motor vehicle.
- Engine number of the motor vehicle
- Chassis number of the motor vehicle
- Permit number, the authority which has issued the permit and date of issue and date of expiry of the permit.
- Unladen weight of the Motor vehicle
- Gross vehicle weight of the Motor vehicle
- Pay load of the motor vehicle (seating capacity in the case of tourist vehicle).
- Period for which the authorization is sought for.
Need for the DocumentEdit
Permit is an instrument issued by a State or Regional Transport Authority authorizing the use of a motor vehicle as a transport vehicle in specified manner as per the relevant provisions of Motor Vehicle Act and rules framed their under. Section 66 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 mandates for necessity of permit to transport vehicles. However, transport vehicles belonging to Central or State Government, police, local body, fire brigade, ambulance, cranes and goods vehicle having gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3000 kilograms are exempted from the necessity of permit.
