- Step 1 : First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online. If you would like to know about the documents that are required for this procedure, please visit the following link : Required Documents for Obtaining Character Certificate
- Step 2 : Please use the following link to apply online : Apply Online.
- Step 3 : Now click “Sign In” menu which is highlighted in Yellow in the below image.
- Step 4 : To create new account click “Create Login” option which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 5 : Complete the registration form and click “Add” tab highlighted in RED to add the details. Then click “Submit submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.

- Step 6 : Now enter the OTP in the textbox and click “Validate” tab highlighted in RED.
- Step 7 : Now go back to the login page and click “Sign In” menu which is highlighted in Yellow in the below image.
- Step 8 : Enter your username and password in the textbox and click “Login” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 9 : Now click “Citizens Services” option. Then click “Character certificate request” option. Then choose “Add Character Certificate Request” option. Refer the below image where the options are highlighted in RED.
- Step 10 : Now click the checkbox highlighted in RED and click “submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 11 : Select the applicable option for Aadhaar card. If you click “Yes” option highlighted in RED then enter the base number and click “Search” tab highlighted in RED to proceed further.
- Step 12 : If you click “No” option highlighted in RED then complete the application form and click “Submit” tab which is highlighted in RED to proceed further.
- Step 13 : Complete Address details section and enter the details. Then click “Add” tab which is highlighted in RED. Now click “Submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 14 : Complete Affidavit section and click the checkbox highlighted in RED. Now click “Submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 15 : Complete Witness information section with valid details and click “Submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 16 : Then choose applicable option for BPL holder highlighted in RED and click “Submit” tab which is highlighted in RED in the below image.
- Step 17 : After successful submission of the application applicant will receive acknowledgement. Please keep the acknowledgement for future reference.
- Step 18 : This application will be processed by the respective department as per how it will be processed in person.
- Step 19 : Applicant will get notification about the status on his registered mobile number provided while applying.
- Step 20 : Applicant has to go and meet the respective authorities with documents as instructed to get the certificate as per given date.
