Kerala - Obtain Non Availability of Birth Certificate (NABC)

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. First visit the birth registrar office to know whether the birth records are available or not.
  2. To apply for the non availability of birth certificate, applicant has to approach the registrar in the Municipal Corporation.
  3. Link for contact link
  4. Download the application form from the given Application form link. Refer form number 10.
  5. And also get a verified statement from the municipal office authorities stating the reason for non-availability, on their letterhead or on the application form.
  6. Make sure that you have all the proper documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section below.
  7. Submit the form to the municipal office along with the required documents.
  8. Refer the municipal office location mentioned in the “Office location & contacts” section below.
  9. Police verification will be done if you enclose any other supporting documents except school certificate.
  10. After successful verification, concerned authorities in the municipal council will issue the certificate.


Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online.
  5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  7. If verified, the certificate will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicant should be the citizen of India or NRI.
  • If the applicant’s birth is not officially recorded.
  • If the birth certificate has been destroyed in any natural calamities or fire or civil calamities.

Issuance of NABC is chargeable as per the norms of the state government.

Non-Availability of Birth Certificate is valid forever.

InstructionsEdit

  • Applicant has to get a statement from the respective authority on the letterhead or on the prescribed application form, stating the reason of unavailability of birth certificate.
  • Along with the statement include the secondary evidence mentioned in “Required documents” section.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Birth certificate is the mandatory document at the time of school / college admissions.
  • Without birth certificate, getting PAN card, Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Driving license, Passport or visa is impossible.
  • NABC will fulfil the requirement of birth certificate.
  • NABC certifies the registration of the unregistered birth.
