ProcedureEdit

Apply through Akshaya

  1. Applicant must visit the nearest Akshaya center. Link for center: link
  2. Applicant shall obtain application form from the centre.
  3. Submit the completed application, document and applicable fees to the centre staff.
  4. Application submitted will be processed and receipt with application number will be issued.
  5. Application will be processed by the respective department. From this point onwards, authorities will do the due diligence to issue the card. SMS triggered update on application status will be sent to applicant mobile.



Apply In-Person

  1. Ration Card holder shall approach their respective ration shop of your area or respective local TSO(Taluk Supply Office)/DSO office as applicable to change address in the ration card

In case the applicant moves into new residence within the jurisdiction of the same Fair Price Shop, the change of address can be recorded in the ration card as per the procedure below.

  1. Please go to the respective office.
  2. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used
  3. Please submit the completed application along with required documents to the respective authority.
  4. Authorities after checking the submitted application along with attached documents will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
  5. Keep it safe for future reference.
  6. This application will be processed further to issue the ration card with updated address as per notified period.



In case the applicant moves into new residence outside the jurisdiction of the same Fair Price Shop, the change of address can be recorded in the ration card as per the procedure below.

  1. Once these documents are submitted as per the address above, a deletion slip will be issued. Applicant shall use this slip to get the card deleted from the A-Register or appropriate register and get a deletion slip signed by the respective salesman or authority.
  2. Hand over the deletion slip with the family card to the respective office and get an acknowledgement slip
  3. The changes are thereafter carried out in the family card. Applicant can come and collect the updated ration card on the day stipulated.



Apply Online

  1. To Change Address in Ration Card, the applicant has to make the application online via e-Services - Ration Card Management System link
  2. The applicant has to login via user id and password and enter captcha and click “Sign In”. if the applicant doesn’t have an account, then the applicant can click the “create an account” to create a new one.
  3. After logging in the applicant has to select the service and enter their ration card number for further process (If applicable)
  4. Then proceed by clicking on the option Apply for change of address Ration Card.
  5. Then applicant has to upload the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (If required).
  6. Check all the information you have entered before submitting.
  7. Click the submit button and take a printout of the application form for future use.
  8. Note down the application number and date.
  9. The applicant is informed through SMS at various stages i.e., Advance intimation about date of visit of the official to his place of residence for verification of his application, Approval/Rejection of his application.
  10. After ground level verification ration card will be issued in 2 – 3 weeks as notified by the department



Apply through Centres:

  1. To change address in ration card, the applicant has to approach nearby Common Service Center (CSC) Link. Also, the applicant can approach nearby Akshaya service centre link
    • Note: The applicant has to select their state, district and block from the drop-down menu or the applicant can click on their respective district to find nearby center.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant has to provide their details to the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to attach or provide the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (If required).
  5. Submit the completed application, document and applicable fees to the centre staff.
  6. Application submitted will be processed and receipt with application number will be issued.
  7. The applicant is informed through SMS at various stages i.e., Advance intimation about date of visit of the official to his place of residence for verification of his application, Approval/Rejection of his application.

EligibilityEdit

  • A valid ration card holder who changed their residence.
  • The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be resident of the state.
  • The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
  • The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
  • New born above 5 years
  • Addition of member name after marriage

  • Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
  • Citizens holding ration card should apply for change of address as and when their place of residence is changed to make use of the ration card as a vital proof of residence.
  • Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
