Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Press accreditation card, visit the Information & Public Relations Department.
- Note: You need to give appointment letter and if they are agreed you can visit the office and meet them.

- Please make sure you are eligible to make the application by going through the eligibility criteria provided under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Describe your publication in the letter and state that you are requesting press accreditation Card.
- Get the application form from them or write it on an A4 sheet.
- Fill the application form and attach all the required documents mentioned in the “required documents” section of this page and submit it to the concerned authorities.
- Pay the required amount as quoted by the authorities.
- The authorities will check and verify the details and if you are eligible, the Press accreditation Card will be issued on the Specified date.
- You can collect the press accreditation from the concerned authorities in the Information and Public Relations.

Required documents( Journalist) :
A.Correspondent/cameraperson: (At least five years of experience as a full time working journalist) :
1. Salary slips from present and previous employers.
2.Byline clippings ( of articles and photos in case of newspapers covering various years of experience)
3. Relieving letter/service certificate (from previous employers)
4. Recommendation letter of editor/Head of editorial department in original addressed to Pr.Director General seeking accreditation of the correspondent/cameraperson (current employer).
5. Copies of certificates of educational and professional qualification
6. Photo.
B.Freeelance Journalist: (At least fifteen years’ experience as a full time working journalist) :
1. Copies of employment letter with terms and conditions, post, salary from all employers.
2. Salary slips from all employers.
3.Relieving letter or service certificate from all employers.
4. CA certificate for income prescribed in guidelines,in original (after year of freelance work), or valid proof of income from tie-up of freelance various years of experience.
5. Copies of certificates of educational and professional qualification.
6. Proof of present freelance work (News clippings, tie-up of freelance work etc).
7.Photo.
C.ForeignJournalists( Correspondent/Cameraperson) : At least five years’ experience as a full time working journalist :
1. Copy of passport (verified against original)
2. Salary slips from all employers.
3. Recommendation letter from Editor/Bureau chief in original, also stating that applicant has minimum Five years of experience of full time working journalist.
4. Photo.
Documents (For validation of Organization)
- Newspapers/ Periodicals
- RNI registration certificate.
- Circulation certificate issued by the RNI/ABC showing the latest circulation of the Newspaper/Periodical.
- Issues of the newspaper/periodicals under :-
- Last Six month’s issues (In case of Daily Newspaper)
- Last one year’s Issues (In case of Weekly/Fortnightly)
- News Agency / Photo News Agency/ News Feature Agency
- Latest list of Subscribers.
- Copies of agreement with the subscribers to supply news on regular basis.
- Details of payments duly verified by Chartered Accountant for the annual revenue of the agency earned during the last one year.
- Clippings of published news/news-features/news photos during the last year bearing the credit line of the agency.
- Certificate of incorporation under Companies Act.
- Memorandum of Association.
- Electronic Media(TV/Radio Channel)
- Balance –sheet to show annual revenue of last financial year.
- Up-linking /telecast permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India to ascertain date of Commencement of telecast.
- Permission/Authorization by the Ministry of Telecommunication.
- Details of News & Current Affairs telecast in a day/Fixed Point Chart.
- Memorandum of Association.
- TV/Radio Production Organization/Agencies
- Proof of annual income like CA certificate etc as prescribed in guidelines.
- List of Channels to which supplying news content.
- Copies of agreement with Subscribers for supplying new stories regularly.
- Memorandum of Association.
- Certificate along with documentary proof regarding supply of news and news related content of prescribed duration to TV/Radio channels.
- They can ask for any other document in physical form to verify the antecedents of applicant/organization

InstructionsEdit
- Describe your publication in the letter and state that you are requesting press accreditation.
- Include your position at the publication and how long you've been working there. Explain, in detail, what kind of coverage you plan to give the event and what kind of access you would like.
- The concerned department shall issue a photo identity card to all reporters/ correspondents/ news/ cameraman/ videographers and editors to whom the accreditation is granted by the Committee, and whenever necessary, the card should have authorization to enter all premises of the Central and State Governments, without any requirement of obtaining visitor pass.
- The Press Accreditation Committee shall consist of not less than 10 members, representing various recognized mainstream media organizations.
- Accreditation is personal and not transferable.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Since this card comes after security clearance from the Home Ministry, accredited journalists are allowed to enter the premises of most Union government ministries without prior appointment. They are not required to register or record their presence at the reception, or with any other official in any ministry.
- Accreditation is a recognition given to news media representatives by the Government of India for the purpose of access to sources of information in the Government and also to news materials, written or pictorial, released by the Press Information Bureau and/or other agencies of the Government of India.
Information which might helpEdit
- The Journalists in the other parts of the country have to seek state government-issued press accreditation cards. Other benefits a government-accredited journalist gets are railway fare concessions and a Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) card, which guarantees free treatment at certain hospitals.
- Accreditation’ means recognition of news media representatives by the Government of India for purpose of access to sources of information in the Government and also to news materials, written or pictorial, released by the Press Information Bureau and/or other agencies of the Government of India.
