Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The respective “Fair Price Shops-FPS” / ration shop will announce the issue of the application form for the new ration card. The respective civil supplies & consumer affairs office also conducts special camps for the issue of family card to the transgender. The applicant shall approach these offices and find out the option for getting a ration card for transgender. If the service is availed, then apply for the family card.

3. Go to the respective office and obtain the application form to apply for a ration card. The applicants are advised to get the latest eligibility updates from the authorities.
4. Download the application form online PDF link
5. Irrespective of the announcements for the new ration cards and special camps, the applicant shall also visit the respective public distribution office for their area on any working day to consult about how to apply for the new ration card.
6. Fill all the necessary mandatory information in the application as appropriate, please mention or select the transgender/others option for the gender/sex section as appropriate and sign at appropriate places.
7. Do not fill in any wrong information, otherwise the officer of the department will reject the application form.
8. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and apply to the concerned authority. Please pay the fee/charges if any and don’t forget to take the receipt. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
9. On accepting the application, the authority or the clerk will check the application details and documents. If all are in place, the application will be accepted and an acknowledgement slip with a serial number will be issued. Please keep it safe for future reference.
10. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the issuance of the ration card.
11. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
12. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
13. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will make a decision on issuance of the family card.
14. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or through applicable norms.
15. If approved, the ration card will be hand-delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the advised timeline.

Apply Online:

1. Please use the following link to reach the online portal link
2. In the given page, please enter the login credentials as appropriate provided on the right part of the screen under “Citizen Login” section. Further enter the captcha at the prompted space and click the “SIGN IN” button to log in.
3. If you are a new user, then use the “Create an Account” option below the “SIGN IN” button to reach the “REGISTRATION FORM” page.
4. Please select the checkbox for “Yes” against “To make a new ration card?” and enter/select the mandatory details for the page prompts as appropriate. Please enter the captcha at the prompted space as appropriate and click the “SUBMIT” button to complete the registration and then log in.
5. Once log in, the applicant will reach the applicant’s profile page. Here, please select the “E-SERVICES” menu to reach the “Services For Card” page. Please go thorugh the instructions and click the “Close” button.
6. Now, select “New Rationcard” option to get a new page to apply online. The applicant shall enter/select the “Fill Owner’s Information” section page prompts as appropriate. Upload required documents as applicable using the appropriate button. Once the page prompts are filled, please click the “Save as Draft” button at the bottom to get a “Application Saved” message pop-up with application number. Please save it for future reference and click the “OK” button.
7. Once the “OK” button is used, the applicant shall use the “Next>” button at the bottom to reach the “Fill Family details” section.
8. Please add family members and complete the page requirements with applicable details. Now, click the “Next>” button to reach the “Complete Card Details” section.
9. Here, the applicant should process the page requirements with relevant details and click the checkbox for the disclaimer. Further, please upload the documents under the “Certificate Upload” part.
10. Her, choose the certificate and member from the dropdown list under “Choose Certificate Type*” and “Choose Members” respectively. Once required details are selected, please click the “Browse” button to select the respective file from the local drive.
11. Once the required file is selected, please use the “Attach” button next to “Browse” button. In same manner, please upload the applicable documents and finally click the “PREVIEW” button to get the preview of the application.
12. Please go through the preview. If all are ok, then take a printout of the application.
13. After taking the printout, the applicant will come back to the page where the files are uploaded. Please click the “Submit” button to gat a “Are you sure?” pop-up. Please click “Yes” button to get “Application Submitted in draft” pop-up. Please click the “OK” button.
14. Please sign the printed application and scan it in to your local disk. Please select “signed Application” from the dropdown list under “Choose Certificate Type*” and click the “Browse” button to select the respective file from the local drive.
15. Once the signed application file is selected, please use the “Attach” button next to “Browse” button to get “The Certificate has been Saved.” Pop-up. Please click “OK” button to close.
16. Once the above actions are complete, please click the “FINAL SUBMIT” button to get “Are you sure” pop-up. Please click the “Yes” button to get a “Application Submitted” pop-up message.
17. Please note down the application number and click the “OK” button to land on the last processed page with “PRINT” button alone in ready mode.
18. Please click the “PRINT” button to take a printout of the online submitted application form.
19. Go to the “TSO” office and submit the application along with the required documents that are uploaded.
20. Further process will be carried by the respective department.
21. “SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to applicant mobile.
22. Please follow the notification to get the ration card as per deliverable norms.

Apply through Akshaya Centre

1. Applicant must visit the nearest Akshaya centre link
2. Applicant shall obtain application form from the centre.
3. Submit the completed application, document and applicable fees to the centre staff.
4. The counter staff will process the application online. An application number will be issued as acknowledgement. Please keep it safe for future reference.
5. This application will be processed further.
6. “SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to applicant mobile.
7. Please follow the notification to get the ration card as per deliverable norms.

To Apply Through CSC Centre

1. Applicant shall go to the respective “CSC” centre.
2. Following link can provide you information related to nearest CSC Centres link please fill the prompts using the dropdown list for the respective contact details.
3. Please visit the centre and consult with the kiosk operator for your requirement.
4. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
5. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
6. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
7. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
8. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
9. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.

• Surrender certificate of Ration Card / Family Identity holding or non-availability certificate from the FCS & CA authority where the applicant has previously resided (applying in the new place) as applicable

Eligibility

• Transgender is eligible to apply with a valid “Certificate of identity”.
• The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be residents of the state.
• The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any other State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
• The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
• If you are newly married and have your name in your family ration card, you and your spouse should get name deletion certificates (removing names from your respective family cards).

Fees

• Fee information and other charges can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.

Validity

• The ration cards are usually valid for a lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on the announcement.

Instructions

• Application should be filled up in black ink.
• Please mention the period of stay in the present address.
• Incomplete application will be rejected.
• Do not submit fake documents as proof to get the ration card.
• Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
• If it comes to notice of the department at a later date that particulars given by an applicant are either wrong or contrary to truth, the family card issued will be cancelled and action will be pursued against the applicant.

Need for the Document

• To protect the transgender rights and interests and to facilitate their access to different government schemes, the government initiated the issue of family cards under the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”.
• For implementation of the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”, ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
