Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The applicant shall visit the nearby government office (corporation office, municipal office, panchayat office, etc) and submit the cancellation application for trade license to the local authority. The license needs to be cancelled by the municipal commissioner or executive officer.
2. Refer the office contact details in the “Office contacts & Locations” section below, also check the contact link link.
3. The cancellation application can be obtained in the office.
4. The applicant should, within thirty days from the date of closing the establishment, notify to the officer in writing.
5. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Submit the application form along with the required documents.
7. The Officer, after receiving the information and if satisfied about its correctness will remove such establishment from the register of establishments and cancel the trade license.
8. After cancellation, the applicant can get confirmation at the office.

Apply Through CSC

1. To Surrender or Cancel Trade License, the applicant has to approach respective “CSC” centre link
   • NOTE: The applicant has to select state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will decide on the issuance of the license.
11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.
12. The applicant has to get the license by visiting the office within the stipulated period of time.

• The cancellation should be done within the financial year.
• Filing of final tax returns and payment of tax needs to be done before closing.
• Prescribed Form should be used for the Application.
• Please fill the Application form completely and correctly.
• The Trade License Number should be mentioned.
• The name, address and other details of the establishment should be mentioned.
• The reason(s) for cancellation should be mentioned in the application form.
• The reason(s) given for cancellation should be valid.

Need for the Document

• It is required for closure of a business.
