ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. Marriage registration has to be applied with the respective registrar in whose jurisdiction the husband of wife resides.
  2. Application should be obtained from the respective office or can be downloaded from the following Link: form
  3. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Complete the application carefully, when you fill the Name of Bride and Groom.
  5. Submit the application along with Required document to the sub Registrar office with the witness signatures.
  6. Applicant will be asked to come to the premises on a scheduled date to complete the registration
  7. The Bridegroom and Bride have put their signature in specified field
  8. 2 copies of the Marriage Certificate will be given to the couple. Rest of copies will be Kept for office Record



Apply Online

  1. Visit the online official website of Karnataka government to apply for Marriage registration: Apply Online
  2. Login into the portal by entering username and password if you are an existing user.
  3. If you are a new user Register yourself.
  4. Select the name of your district and continue.
  5. Fill in the bridegroom's details and select "Registration of Marriage Certificate"
  6. Fill in the Marriage Certificate form and select date of appointment.
  7. Submit the form by clicking on "Submit Application".
  8. A temporary number will be allotted to that will be found printed on the acknowledgement slip and this will complete the application procedure.
  9. Take a printout of acknowledgment slip and keep it with you.
  10. On the Said date, applicant along with the witness needs to be present before the registrar. Please submit the printout as obtained along with required documents.
  11. Please follow the guidelines of the authorities to complete the formalities for registration.
  12. Applicant and witness will be asked to sign on the registry to endorse their marriage.
  13. The certificate will be issued on the same day for the already solemnize marriage.
  14. In case of the application made in advance (before marriage) for the issuance of certificate, authorities will look for any objection from public for thirty days and then the process will be executed on the day of marriage by a assigned authority and the certificate will be issued as applicable.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Completely filled application form, duly signed by both bridegroom and bride
  • Original wedding card.
  • Proof of address of bride and bridegroom – Passport/ Voter ID Card/ Driving License/ House Rent Agreement/ Telephone Bill or Electricity Bill. The address proof must be in one of the applicant’s name.
  • Age proof of bridegroom and bride – Mark sheet of 10th standard with the date of birth mentioned on it or Passport.
  • Identity proof of bridegroom and bride – Passport / PAN Card / Voter ID card / Driver’s License.
  • 2 passport sized photographs each of bridegroom and bride
  • 6 copies of joint photographs of bridegroom and bride in 2B size.
  • 2 photographs of the bride and bridegroom wearing their marriage dress and are clearly seen taking part in the marriage ceremony (preferably with their families).
  • Separate marriage affidavits in prescribed format from bridegroom and bride
  • Aadhar card
  • Affidavit in case of name change of bride after the marriage.
  • The newspaper in which the information of the bride’s name change was published.

EligibilityEdit

  • Bridegroom must have completed 21 years of age.
  • Bride must have completed 18 years of age.
  • Bridegroom and Bride may be from any religion but should be citizen of India.



FeesEdit

  • No fee is required for registration of marriage under Hindu Marriage Act. The application fee is Rs.5 and the fee for certified copy is Rs. 10.
  • Fee for solemnization of marriage under the Special Marriage Act is Rs.10. An amount of Rs.15 is charged extra for solemnizing in any other place outside the sub registrar’s office. The fee for notice of intended marriage is Rs.3. The fee to obtain the certified copy of certificate of marriage is Rs.2
  • Under Parsi Marriage Act, the required fee to be paid for certified copy of a certificate of marriage is Rs.2.
