Karnataka - Obtain Water Tanker (Lorry) License or Permit

Apply Online

  1. To apply online for a trade license, visit the official BBMP website.
  2. Here is the link to the Website
  3. Click on “Online services”, “Trade license” and click on “New trade license”.
  4. Click on “I agree to the terms…”
  5. The applicant will be directed to a page with an application form.
  6. Enter all mandatory fields and click on “Submit”.
  7. Now, the applicant will be taken to another page where you will have to upload documents.
  8. Click on “Send OTP”, enter OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  9. Click on “Submit and re-check all details, and click on make payment.
  10. Make the payment.
  11. A trade license number will be generated.
  12. The applicant can use this number to download a copy of your certificate.

Apply Online

  1. To be able to distribute water with a water tanker, it is mandatory to obtain a license from FSSAI.
  2. The applicant will have to visit the official website of FSSAI.
  3. Here is the FSSAI website
  4. If you have login credentials you can log in.
  5. If you do not, follow these steps:
    • On the top right, click on “Sign up”.
    • You will be directed to another page where you will have to enter your name, email, mobile number, login ID and password.
    • Enter captcha.
    • Click on Sign up.
    • A verification code will be sent to your mobile number and email ID.
    • Enter these codes and your account will be created.
    • Now, go back to the login page and log in.
  6. Once logged in, on the left, click on “License registration”.
  7. Click on “Apply for new registration”.
  8. Select the state where you want your license, in this case, it will be Bihar.
  9. Under “trade/retail” click on “Transportation”.
  10. The applicant will have to select how many tankers you have, now click on proceed.
  11. Click on “click here to…”.
  12. Enter details such as your GST number, address, pin code, state sub-district. (This is form B).
  13. Once done, click on “save and next”.
  14. The applicant will have to upload the documents.
  15. Make an online fee payment.
  16. Once payment is completed, you will receive an acknowledgement slip along with an application number that can be used to track your application.
  17. The applicant can download the license once it has been approved.


Apply In-person

  1. Approach the nearest CSC centre and ask them for guidelines on how to obtain a license as a water tanker distributer.
  2. Use the following link to find the nearest CSC centre. Link
  3. The applicant has to get the application form from the respective office. Enter details, such as name, address, GST number and other required information.
  4. The applicant will have to attach documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Make sure all the given details are correct.
  6. Make a fee payment, the fee-related details are mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. The applicant will receive an application number, save this number in case the applicant wants to track their application.
  8. Once approved, the applicant can collect the certificate from the CSC centre.

  • The Identity and address proof of the owner of the business.
  • Passport size photograph of the applicant
  • Documents portraying details of the approval of Lorry/tanker registration from RTO.
  • Documents related to the building, which could be a property tax receipt (for an own building) or rental agreement (for a rented building).
  • The proof of the premises with a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the owner of the premises.
  • Details of power, premises.
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Pollution Control Board.
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Fire and Revenue Services Department.
  • The Katha Extract


For FSSAI certificate:

  • Photo
  • Government-issued photo ID such as AADHAAR, PAN, Voter ID etc.
  • Proof of Address of Businesses activity (if an address is other than as mentioned in Photo ID Card)
