Karnataka - Obtain Change in Address for Vehicles

To apply for change in address for vehicles in Karnataka, the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office Locations and Contacts” Section of this page.
You will have to submit Application in front of registering authority.
The application shall be made in application Form no CMV33 & KMV27 to the RTO
The application form no CMV33 can be obtained from the RTO office.
The application form no KMV27 can be collected from the RTO office.
When Change of Address is within same RTO Form-33 of CMVR (In triplicate, if vehicle is covered by hypothecation/HPA/lease agreement and consent of the financier shall be furnished on the application along with seal & signature) is used.
If the Change of Address is within Karnataka State : Form-33 of CMVR (In triplicate, if vehicle is covered by hypothecation/HPA/lease agreement and consent of the financier shall be furnished on the application along with seal & signature).
If Change of Address with Vehicle migrating from Other State then apply in
- Form-33 of CMVR(in triplicate if vehicle is covered by hypothecation/HPA/lease agreement and consent of the financier shall be furnished on the application along with seal & signature).
- Form-27 of CMVR (in triplicate if vehicle is covered by hypothecation/HPA/lease agreement and consent of the financier shall be furnished on the application along with seal & signature).
- Form-27 of KMVR

Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.

Apply Online via National Portal - Karnataka Obtain Change in Address for Vehicles Online with Images

To change address for vehicles, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.

Caste Certificate (SC/ST, Backward Class and Minorties, etc.) and Income Certificate issued by Tahasildar.
Pay slip issued by any office of the Central Government or a State Government or a Local body.
Self swearing Affidavit by an applicant before an executive Magistrate or a First Class Judicial
Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of age and address.
Proof of legal presence in India in addition to proof of residence in case of foreigners.

EligibilityEdit

Owner of the vehicle can apply for change of address in the Registration Certificate.

(i)If the owner of a car changes his residence or place of business, he must inform the RTO of his new address within 30 days.

(ii)If the car is to be used in another state for a period exceeding one year, a new registration number must be obtained.

(iii)An application for change of address in Registration Certificate shall be made in Form 33 along with No Objection Certificate (NOC). The application can be submitted to the Regional Transport Officer (or) Motor Vehicle Inspector.

Rs. 20/- if the application is within 30 days from the date of change of residence.
Rs. 100/- as compounding fee in case of belated application.
Rs 200/- for Smart Card (Department: Rs.137/- to be paid at RTO Cash Counter & Rs.63/- to be paid to the Smart Card Vendor).

Change of Address within Karnataka State

Rs. 20/- if the application is within 30 days from the date of change of residence.
Rs. 100/- as compounding fee in case of belated application.

Tax as applicable to be assessed at R.T.O concerned.

If tax amount exceeds Rs 3500/- to obtain DD/Bankers Cheque in favor of concerned RTO.

Green Tax

Transport Vehicles: Rs.200/- per annum for vehicles completed 7 years from the date of its Registration.
Non-Transport Vehicles: Rs.250/- for Motor Cycles & Rs. 500/- for Light Motor Vehicles completed 15 Years of age)
