Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for Vehicle Fitness certificate (FC) in Jharkhand the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

5. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
   
6. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for this procedure
   
7. Make sure you have completed application form : form 38
   
8. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices
   
9. The applicant should bring in their vehicle for inspection.
   
10. Present the completed application forms in the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
    
11. Inspection of vehicle for correctness as per norms will be carried out to issue FC
    
    

Apply Online:

1. To apply for vehicle fitness certificate (FC), the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

Apply through Centres:

1. To Apply for vehicle fitness certificate (FC) in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the card.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

Eligibility

• Vehicle should be produced for inspection
  
• You should be the owner of the vehicle
  
  

Fees

Validity

• In case of Private vehicles the fitness certificates is valid for 15 years and there after renewed at every 5 years
  
• In case of Transport Vehicles the fitness certificate is issued for a new vehicle for 2 years and subsequently renewed every year

Need for the Document

1. The registration of vehicle is treated as valid only if the vehicle has valid certificate of fitness. Fitness certificate for a vehicle in Chhattisgarh is required to renew the current status of the vehicle
   
2. The fitness is checked and certified by the Registering Authority
   
3. Fitness certificate is issued to check the pollution caused by the emission of smoke from the vehicles, to maintain the vehicle in proper condition and to avoid accidents
   
4. Fitness Certificate is an official document certifying that the holder’s vehicle is fit to drive at public places

1. An applicant should apply for renewal of his vehicle Fitness Certificate within 30 days from the date of expiry of its validity
   
2. RTO officials has the right to decide upon the issue of certificate
