- If your driver license is valid and it’s lost or stolen, then you would have to file a FIR with the local police station and you will be requested to produce the report :with the application for a duplicate driving license. If in case it is destroyed, defaced or torn or completely written up, then you have to produce the remains along with application and no need for police complaint.
Apply In-Person :
- To apply for a Duplicate Driver License in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
- Application Forms 1 L.L.D. is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Form 1
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for driver license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.

- To apply for duplicate driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.
Apply through Centres:
- To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
- Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
- It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
- The operator will process the application online.
- On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
- Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page and collect the receipt.
- After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding the documents submitted along with the form.
- Collect the acknowledgment slip after submitting the form.
- Use the acknowledgment slip to get the certificate in a stipulated period of time.

- Police Certificate FIR (in case of theft / missing)
- Aadhaar Card
- Proof of age, appropriate for relevant class of vehicle.
- Ration card, Voter identity card, Life insurance policy, Passport, School certificate, Birth certificate or
- Certificate granted by a registered medical practitioner not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon(as applicable) or
- Self-swearing Affidavit by an applicant before an executive Magistrate or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of age
- Proof of residence
- Ration Card, Voter identity card, Aadhar Identity Card, Pay slip issued by any office of the central government or a state government; Electricity bill, Telephone bill, House tax receipt showing the name of the name of the applicant
- If the applicant is not able to produce any of the above documents for a sufficient reason the licensing authority may accept any affidavit sworn by the applicant before an Executive Magistrate, or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of residence
- Driving license remains (in case of damaged ones)
- A written statement for the missing or damaged Driving license

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A Driving License is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle.
- One needs to apply for a duplicate DL as soon as he or she finds that the DL is not in place
- Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category
