ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. In case a consumer desires his connection to be permanently disconnected, he shall apply for the same at GERC. The licensee shall give a written acknowledgment of receipt of such request, on the spot.
  2. The licensee shall carry out a special reading and prepare a final bill including all arrears up to the date of such billing within 30 days from receipt of such request. Upon payment, the licensee shall issue a receipt with 'Final Bill' stamped on it. This receipt shall be treated as a No Dues Certificate:
  3. Provided that whenever an agreement is terminated on notice given by the consumer, the licensee shall give a written intimation within 7 days after termination, failing which such intimation shall be deemed to have been given to the consumer.
  4. Thereafter, the licensee shall not have any right to recover any charge(s) for any period prior to this date of billing. The licensee shall not raise any bill after disconnection.
  5. HT/EHT consumers shall also bear the estimated expenditure on removal of the apparatus and service line. The licensee shall issue a demand note to the consumer in writing, under acknowledgment, within 10 working days of receipt of request.
  6. In case of disconnection of supply for non-payment of any charge for electricity or any sum other than a charge for electricity dues from the consumer to the Distribution Licensee in respect of supply or wheeling of electricity to the consumer, he will not be permitted to have electricity connection from any other Distribution Licensee.

FeesEdit

Disconnection and Reconnection of supply for any reason whatsoever (Disconnection and Reconnection to be separately treated as single job).

  • Consumer having load above 100BHP/75KW per job: Rs. 1000
  • Power consumers up to 100BHP/75KW per job: Rs. 500
  • All other categories of Consumers per job: Rs. 300

  • A consumer may terminate the agreement after giving a notice in the specified format ( (Hindi, English)). The notice period shall be 30 days for all consumers.   • If the dues are not paid by the consumers the surcharge payable by the consumer on dues shall be levied up to the period of issue of section-5 notice, or for maximum eight months only.
  • The security amount shall be adjusted first and after adjusting the security amount the net arrear shall be calculated on which surcharge shall be payable by the consumer.
