Procedure

Every food business (manufacturing, processing, storage distribution and sale of food products) operator must compulsorily obtain FSSAI Registration or License
Apply In-Person:

1. Please approach the food and safety department to register.
2. Link for contact details : link.
3. Obtain the application form from the respective counter OR download using the following link. link
4. Submit the completed application form duly signed by the proprietor/partner or the authorised signatory as applicable.
5. This application can be accepted or it may be rejected by the Department within 7 days from the application date and the fact will be intimated to the applicant in writing
6. If the application is accepted, this application will be processed internally.
7. Once scrutiny, verification and inspection (if applicable) are satisfactory, then the department will grant a registration certificate carryingunique registration number along with the photo of the applicant.

Apply Online:

1. Please use the following link to apply online. link
2. Click the “Login-Businesses” tab and Under User sign-in Box enter your Application Ref. No./License No./Certificate No. and Click on the “Proceed” button to login.
3. If you are a new user, then Click on the "Do you want to apply for New License/Registration" and click on the "Apply for License/Registration" tab in the new page.
4. Next select the state from the dropdown list box and read the Note.
5. Here, select applicable option for “Yes” Or “No” as per the business operation to get list of options to choose as per requirement and hit “Proceed” tab at the bottom to get next page.
6. Now user will get kind of business page. Here click on the “click to apply” link at the extreme right to get next page.
7. Next page will have online form ‘A’ for user to fill up the required prompts, upload photo, aadhar, declaration as prompted for applying online.
8. Finally hit “Save and next” tab at the bottom to reach next page.
9. Here print the application and sign on the form.
10. Scan the form to upload as per the prompt provided in the page by selecting “Choose file” and hit “upload” tab.
11. Finally hit “Submit” tab at the bottom to get next page.
12. User will be provided with option to make payment. Please follow the page requirement to complete the payment by hitting “upload”.
13. Now hit “submit” tab at the bottom to get acknowledgement slip. Please keep it safe for future reference.
14. This application will be processed and notified through SMS or through e-mail provided by applicant while applying.

• FBO should prominently display the certificate of registration at the place of business during the business hours.

Need for the Document

• Generally, FBO who are large manufacturers, importers, exporters dealing in large-scale food business need to obtain FSSAI registration from central government
• FBO with small to medium sized manufacturing units, transporters, marketers, traders, etc., need to take FSSAI registration from the state government.
