Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The respective “Fair Price Shops-FPS” / ration shop will announce the issue of the application form for the new ration card. The respective Inspector Food and Supplies office also conducts special camps for the issue of family card to the transgender. The applicant shall approach these offices and find out the option for getting a ration card for transgender. If the service is availed, then apply for the family card.
2. Contact Link1 please select your district under “District Name” and choose and choose your “AFSO Name” as per requirement for contact details AND District wise in the given page, please select the menu icon provided on the top right corner and select “Directory” option to get list of options. Please select as per requirement for contact information.
3. Go to the respective office and obtain the application form to apply for a ration card. The applicants are advised to get the latest eligibility updates from the authorities.
4. Download the application form online link. Click on the "Ration Card Form".
5. Irrespective of the announcements for the new ration cards and special camps, the applicant shall also visit the respective public distribution office for their area on any working day to consult about how to apply for the new ration card.
6. Fill all the necessary mandatory information in the application as appropriate, please mention or select the transgender/others option for the gender/sex section as appropriate and sign at appropriate places.
7. Do not fill in any wrong information, otherwise the officer of the department will reject the application form.
8. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and apply to the concerned authority. Please pay the fee/charges if any and don’t forget to take the receipt. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
9. On accepting the application, the authority or the clerk will check the application details and documents. If all are in place, the application will be accepted and an acknowledgement slip with a serial number will be issued. Please keep it safe for future reference.
10. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the issuance of the ration card.
11. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
12. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
13. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will make a decision on issuance of the family card.
14. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or through applicable norms.
15. If approved, the ration card will be hand-delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the advised timeline.

1. Before starting to apply online, please get the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page ready.

3. If you are new user, then, in the given page, please enter the login credentials as appropriate. Enter the verification code at the prompted space and click the “SUBMIT” button to login.
4. In this page please click “New user? Register here” option under “SIGN IN HERE” section on the top right corner of this page to get a new pop-up to register into the portal.
5. Please complete the registration prompts as appropriate and hit “SUBMIT” button to get a pop-up with information stating “OTP’s” sent to the email ID and mobile number. Please click “Ok” button to close the pop-up.
6. Please enter the received “OTP’s” as appropriate at the respective prompts as applicable and click the “VALIDATE” button to complete the registration process and then login.
7. Once login, please select “View all available services” under “Apply for services” section.“Issue of New Ration Card on receipt of D-I form i.e. Application Form for all Categories” under “Food & supplies department”
8. Please type “Food And Supplies Department” on the search box provided at the right side of the page to get list of options. Here, please look for “Issue of New Ration Card on receipt of D-I form i.e. Application Form for all Categories” and use the applicable option/button to get the online applying page.
9. Please enter the page prompts as appropriate. Please complete the application form with mandatory details. Upload the applicable documents as per the prompts. Please make the payment for this process as per the online payment option as applicable.
10. Once all the required details are entered, please enter the verification text in the textbox as applicable and click “Submit” button to submit the application online.
11. A system generated acknowledgement will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
12. Please take a printout of this application and attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. Please submit the application in person to the respective office.
13. This application will be processed by the respective department.
14. Applicant gets update of the application status in their mobile through “SMS”.
15. Applicant shall use the application number/id to track the application status through online portal.
16. From this point onwards the application will get processed how it will be processed when applied in person to issue a ration card.

To Apply Through CSC Centre

1. Applicant shall go to the respective “CSC” centre.
2. Following link can provide you information related to nearest CSC Centres link please fill the prompts using the dropdown list as appropriate for the respective contact details.
3. Please visit the centre and consult with the kiosk operator for your requirement.
4. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
5. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
6. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
7. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
8. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.

• Copies of birth certificates of minor members (Below 10 years in age)
• Surrender certificate of Ration Card / Family Identity holding or non-availability certificate from the FCS & CA authority where the applicant has previously resided (applying in the new place) as applicable
• Aadhaar Card

Eligibility

• Transgender is eligible to apply with a valid “Certificate of identity”.
• The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be residents of the state.
• The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any other State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
• The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
• If you are newly married and have your name in your family ration card, you and your spouse should get name deletion certificates (removing names from your respective family cards).

Fees

• Fee information and other charges can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.

Validity

• The ration cards are usually valid for a lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on the announcement.

• Incomplete application will be rejected.

Need for the Document

• To protect the transgender rights and interests and to facilitate their access to different government schemes, the government initiated the issue of family cards under the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”.
• For implementation of the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”, ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
