This procedure explains various ways to Renew International Driving Permit (IDP) in Zamboanga City.

Apply in PersonEdit

  1. Here's how you can renew your International Driving Permit (IDP). What you will need to do is go to any Automobile Association Zamboanga City (AAP) office near you.
  2. Approach an AAP Personnel and ask where can you fill up an application to renew your International Driving Permit (IDP).
  3. Complete the renewal form and submit it together with the original and photocopy of your Philippine driver’s license. You will also need to submit two pieces 2”x2” colored ID picture (white background). For applicants who are dual citizens or those submitting an application through a representative, you may be asked to present additional documents by the AAP (see list under 'Required Documents' section).
  4. Pay the processing fee.
  5. The AAP personnel will let you know when your IDP will be ready. The amount of time it takes AAP to process an application varies depending on the number of application being processed at the same time. According to AAP, their Quezon City branch has the fastest processing time of about one hour. Other AAP offices like Makati, Alabang, Pampanga, and Lipa usually takes about two to three days to process an application, while the Cebu and Davao offices takes about four to five days.

  1. Following are procedures on how you can renew your International Driving Permit (IDP) application online. Please note that after you have completed and submitted the online form, you will still need to visit an Automobile Association Zamboanga City (AAP) office for further processing of your application. If you would like to avoid queuing at the AAP office then it might be a good idea to complete the online form ahead of your visit.

  3. Fill out the form completely and correctly. Make use of the drop down menus when you are completing items on the form.
  4. To upload your documents, click the "Choose File" button and then upload a GIF, PNG or JPG image of your documents.
  5. Before you click the "Submit" button please make sure that you have answered all items marked with red asterisk (*). Review you answers before you submit your application.
  6. Wait for an email from AAP instructing you on what to do next after you have submitted and uploaded your documents online.
  7. On the day of your schedule, visit the AAP office you have selected when you filed your online application.
  8. Approach an AAP personnel and ask where online IDP applications are processed.
  9. Submit all the required documents and pay the processing fee.

Required DocumentsEdit

Basic requirements:

  • The original and photocopy of your valid Philippine driver’s license. Paper-type/Original Receipt from LTO and card-type driver’s licenses are both accepted.
  • Two pieces 2”x2” colored ID picture of the applicant (white background)

Additional requirements:

  • For applications submitted through a representative:
    • Letter of authorization signed by the applicant
    • Government-issued ID of the representative
    • In case the original driver’s license is not available, an LTO certification and the original Official Receipt must be presented.
  • Foreign nationals:
    • Dual citizens: Original passport and photocopies of pages from your passport indicating your date of last arrival in the Philippines.
    • Permanent residents: Original passport and your Alien Certificate Registration
  • Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW):
    • To qualify for a 20% discount on your AAP membership, present the following documents: Your valid OFW ID and the official receipt issued by POEA indicating OWWA membership fee or valid Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).

  • The Automobile Association Zamboanga City (AAP) is the only organization authorized to issue Philippine International Driving Permit (PIDP).
  • You may start renewing your IDP a month before it expires.
  • In case you are unable to renew your IDP personally because you're out of the country you can ask you can have a representative renew it for you. You will need issue a letter of authorization.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A Philippine International Driving Permit (PIDP) allows its holders to drive private and rental cars overseas. It's basically a translation of your Philippine Driver's License. When approached by traffic authorities in other countries, you need to present both your PDIP and your Philippine Driver's License. Before your PDIP expires you need to renew it to be able to continue driving private and rental cars abroad.
