Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Criminal Investigations Department – link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The fee for this procedure is mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- The applicant must provide a full set of his/her fingerprints, preferably taken at their nearest police station.
- The applicants full name, surname, date of birth, place of birth and identity number must also be recorded on the fingerprint form.
- A copy of the applicants identity document or passport must accompany the application.
- The applicant must present their identity document at the police station, as proof of identity will be required.

Centralized criminal records covering all of Zimbabwe are maintained at the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Criminal Investigations Department, P.O. Box CY 683, Causeway, Harare. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issues, upon application, a certificate that indicates whether or not a criminal record exists and particulars of an offense recorded. Applicants must provide to the ZRP the following information:
- Full name
- Date and place of birth (town and country)
- National identification number
- Last Zimbabwe residential and business address
- Date and place of entry into Zimbabwe
All residents or former residents of Zimbabwe are required to submit one set of fingerprints.
Fee: ZIM $400, to be paid in cash or the equivalent in foreign bank draft payable to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

Residents: Apply in person to the street address below.
Non-residents: Apply to the nearest Zimbabwean Embassy or Consulate, or forward via DHL, with return way bill paid, to the street address above.
Provide: Completed Form 137, available for download online or obtainable from any Zimbabwe Embassy/Consulate; applicants set of fingerprints; copy of the telegraphic transfer receipt; copy of the applicants passport and birth certificate; and a pre-paid DHL envelope for the Police Certificate to be couriered to you.

Need for the DocumentEdit
A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
Police certificate is also known as good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial record extracts. Applicants may have to submit fingerprints and certain personal information to request a criminal record check, and the police or government agency may charge a fee. If no record found, the police certificate will indicate such.
In many immigration cases you may be requested by relevant Government to present Police Clearance Certificate from another country where you have resided for some time. If you are going through immigration process, you will definitely be asked for such a certificate.

How to apply for a Zimbabwe Republic Police Clearance Certificate
- Applicants are required to do the following:
- Fill in the attached ZRP Form 137;
- Make payment of US75, or the equivalent by telegraphic transfer to the Account No. provided;
- Make appointment for fingerprints with any Police Station which does fingerprints.

A police clearance certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.
