ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply to Register a Specialist Health Practitioner in Zambia, the applicant has to contact the Health Professions Council office of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant at the office of the Health Professions Council, find theLink here.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. A person who holds a qualification from a training institution recognised by the Council, or a holder of a temporary certificate of registration, may apply for provisional registration.
  6. Once the application has been verified, it will be forward to the registrar for approval as per the Pharmaceutical Act of Zambia.
  7. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, a provisional certificate will be accessible.
  8. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. After the completion of the above steps, the registration certificate will be accessible.
  10. The applicant gets the registration certificate in 30 days.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Duly completed application form.
  • Completed HPCZ application form for specialist and signed by the Commissioner of Oaths appropriately.
  • Recommendation letters from the Head of the Institution and from a practitioner of the same specialty.
  • Copies of Full Registration Certificate and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • A detailed curriculum vitae.
  • One passport-size photograph with white background (Observing formal dress).
  • Certified photocopy of the National Registration Card or Passport for non-Zambians.
  • Certified photocopies of transcripts of primary and postgraduate professional qualifications (i.e. Degrees, Masters).
  • Degrees or Doctorate) recognized by the Health Professions Council of Zambia.
  • Medical Examination Report from any public health facility.
  • Foreign qualifications to be verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZQA) and Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

EligibilityEdit

  • A person who is already on Full Register and has obtained a postgraduate qualification(s) in a field relevant to the primary qualification.



FeesEdit

  • Fee of Specialist Registration (Zambian): K2,660.00
  • Fee of Specialist Registration (Non-Zambian): 15,000.00



ValidityEdit

  • The validity of the certificate is one year and is subject to renewal.

  • All payments should be made at Zambia National Commercial Bank using a Bill Muster form or Barclays Bank Zambia, Mutaba Branch account number 16-6883911, Sort code 020016, Swift code BARCMLX.
  • A receipt will be issued upon presentation of proof of payment.
  • A health practitioner who practises during any period in which the health practitioner's practising certificate is void commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding seven hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven years, or to both.
