Apply In-Person
- To apply for a license for pollution in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Environmental management agency of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Fill the application form provided to you in the Agriculture Research Institute after understanding guidelines properly.
- Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
- ZEMA receives and analyses the application package.
- Authorities from ZEMA visit the facility and inspect for standards and other requirements that are being followed.
- After inspection if the authorities are satisfied with the standards that are followed a quotation or invoice for license will be provided to the applicant.
- Note: for licences that do not require inspections, issuance of invoice is done as a second step.
- The fee has to be paid according to the authorities request.
- Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, a provisional certificate will be accessible.
- The applicant gets the permit in a stipulated period of time.

- The license will be provided if at least one condition is fulfilled:
- Suspension is necessary to prevent or mitigate an imminent risk of significant adverse effects to the environment or to human health occurring.
- Require the applicant to take specific measures to prevent or abate any adverse effect.

- The license will be cancelled if provider is caught guilty of one of the following:
- Giving false information.
- Transferring license without approval.
- Failing to comply with an enforcement notice.
- Failing to comply with provisions of the WSS Act or license conditions.
- Failing to provide WSS service according to SLG.
